Taihan VINA Expands Operations with New Cable Plant in Vietnam

Taihan VINA, Taiwan’s premier cable manufacturing company and one of its largest worldwide, has some good news. They are about to inaugurate a third plant in the Long Thanh Industrial Zone of Dong Nai Province. The new plant, which will occupy approximately 56,200 square meters, aims to enhance Taihan VINA’s production capabilities in response to the country’s rapidly growing electricity demands. Production at the facility is slated to begin in 2027.

Founded in 2005, Taihan VINA is now one of the largest manufacturers of cable with one of the highest quality products in the region. They manufacture high, medium and low-voltage cables, as well as overhead conductors. The company’s decision to invest in this new plant aligns with Vietnam’s anticipated electricity demand growth, which is projected to increase at an annual rate of 10-12% through 2030. This increase directly reflects the dramatic increase in the country’s industrialization.

According to reports, Taihan Cable & Solution has been increasing its footprint in Vietnam. They have recently won a $157 million (€200 million) contract to provide and install more than 100 km of inter-array submarine cables for the Anma offshore wind power project in South Korea. This contract is a strong example of Taihan Cable & Solution’s growing commitment to the offshore wind power industry. It highlights their commitment to pushing forward renewable energy projects.

During the last two decades, Taihan VINA has developed into an important production base that drives Taihan’s expansion in overseas markets. Our success has its bases on tremendous manufacturing knowhow we have and strong quality competitiveness,” said Joon-seok Kim, executive vice-president of Taihan Cable VINA.

The company is currently constructing a second plant, partly to stop importing its product and start serving the domestic market. At the same time, it wants to have an outsized positive effect in the global energy infrastructure market.

“With the construction of this new plant, we will contribute to the advancement of Vietnam’s power grid while playing a leading role in the global energy infrastructure market.” – Joon-seok Kim, Taihan Cable VINA executive vice-president

The establishment of this new facility is expected to strengthen Taihan VINA’s position within the industry while simultaneously addressing the increasing power requirements of Vietnam’s burgeoning economy. The strategic deployment is the next step of a larger initiative to improve energy infrastructure at home and around the world.
