New Operating Theatres Enhance Patient Care and Flow

Construction of the new £6.5 million robotic operating theatre has officially finished! This major step forward in the quality of healthcare facilities will provide immediate impact to patients and staff. Consultant surgeon Anil Agarwal said that these new operating theatres are already making a big difference in terms of patient outcomes. This perfect little project includes a new recovery zone. Ultimately, their purpose is to improve the patient care experience and increase patient throughput.

Mr. Agarwal wanted to emphasize the importance of this new recovery area. He thinks it will make an enormous impact on the efficiency of delivering patient care. He noted that “patients are already benefitting from the new operating theatres and now patient care and flow will improve with the new recovery area.” We hope this significant addition will begin to remove the burden on our current facilities, resulting in improved health for everyone.

During a recent phone call, Alison Coates, the city’s senior operations manager, offered a window into the city’s enormously ambitious construction blueprint. In terms of complexity, she said, the project involves constructing an entirely new alignment. That section will hover one story above grade, and it will stretch like a bridge across the courtyard below. “To say it was ambitious is an understatement,” she remarked, reflecting on the challenges faced during the development process.

The new facilities not only create an improved experience for the patients who will be treated here, they give theatre staff a much better working environment. Mr. Agarwal emphasized that these improvements are critical for upholding best practices of medical care and agency efficiency.

The healthcare industry is shifting and changing every day. State and federal investments in advanced technology and infrastructure are key to building tomorrow’s world-class patient care methodologies and helping accelerate their development.
