Just Eat UK Trials Innovative Delivery Robots in Major Cities

Just Eat UK has started using pint-sized four-legged robots to deliver food through pedestrian-heavy city streets, including navigating staircases. This test is a big step into making sure deliveries are more efficient between ten independent restaurants around Milton Keynes and Bristol.

The robots, called RIVR, with tiny wheels on each foot. This special design allows them to address difficult urban barriers, such as stairs. The current trial includes two businesses in Milton Keynes: 12th Street Burgers & Shakes and Moores Fish & Chips. In Bristol, eight restaurants, including Jolly Fryer, Chicken Mews, and Bishopston Fish Bar, have signed on to the pilot program.

The RIVR robots are recently out in the real city world testing their mettle. This is a testament to Just Eat UK’s dedication towards practical and smart delivery solutions. A strong international partnership This partnership is crucial for the development of autonomous delivery systems in Europe, stated Marko Bjelonic, chief executive of RIVR.

“This is an important step in scaling autonomous delivery across European cities.” – Marko Bjelonic

The launch in Milton Keynes is an example of that, created through a shared vision for automated delivery that smoothly integrates into current business operations. Just Eat’s recent and surprising initiative to combat this urgent trend is not just a sign of their magnanimity. Across the economy, companies are turning to automation just to meet skyrocketing consumer expectations.

A similar pilot program was conducted before in Switzerland, where nearly 1,000 autonomous deliveries went off without a hitch. On top of all this, delivery drones are testing their wings above roads in Ireland, amplifying the automation buzz across food logistics.

The RIVR robots are equipped with an orange Just Eat box on their backs, ensuring that they remain identifiable during their deliveries. As the trial progresses, Just Eat UK aims to assess the effectiveness of these robots in enhancing delivery speed and convenience for customers.
