End-Tech Team Triumphs at Regional Lego Contest

The End-Tech team from Endon High School in Staffordshire earned a stunning upset at their regional Lego competition. This victory has uplifted them into the national tournament being held in Harrogate! This victory is the team’s second consecutive victory at this stage. It is a testament to their unrelenting drive and remarkable talent within the field of robotics.

Ethan Saunders, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, is another important member of the End-Tech team. Alongside his teammates Malachi, Owen, and James, they worked tirelessly, dedicating time both during and after school to code and build their robot. Their intense effort was shown in how they accumulated points by impressively fulfilling multiple complex tasks which the judges assigned.

Malachi noted the team’s consistent performance, stating, “This was our second win in a row at this stage.” He provided more color on their recent wins, especially emphasizing a change in their coding culture.

“We’ve swapped to a new coding software that uses Python so it’s much more accurate than it used to be.” – Malachi

Owen was one of the creators who helped explain their robot, which had incredible RGB colour sensors. This improvement gave the team a huge advantage during the competition.

“We’ve got a whole different robot with colour sensors this time, that makes it a bit easier to use.” – Owen

James summed up the day’s competitive tone as “nail biting,” and that’s exactly what it was, an experience full of tension and intensity from start to finish. The team were up against a fierce competition, with other teams coming from areas as far as Bradford.

The End-Tech team controlled their robot with amazing accuracy. They further pitched their project to the judges, demonstrating the design and functionality of their heli-car’s custom build. Their hard work and careful decision making during the building process all came together for an incredible performance.

End-Tech, from Staffordshire, celebrates with their trophy after winning the first Lego League UK National Final. They’re excited to show off their talents and hard work later this year! Their adventure is about far more than their success—it’s about encouraging other students who have the same passion for robotics and engineering to pursue it.
