Zelestra Partners with Suzlon to Advance India’s Renewable Energy Goals

Zelestra, a Chennai based global leader in decarbonisation, has entered into a strategic partnership with Suzlon. Combined, they will create 381 megawatts (MW) of wind power capacity across three Indian states. Together, this partnership powers Zelestra’s robust clean energy programs. It’s anchored by a huge €770 million ($907 million) sustainability-linked loan and a bustling clean energy pipeline that already exceeds 5.4 gigawatts (GW) in seven states. The deal with Suzlon is a real bellwether of Zelestra’s resolve to offer trusted Renewable Energy Solutions.

In July 2025, Zelestra closed a whopping €235 million ($277 million). This important funding reaffirms its recently adopted strong financial support for numerous multimodal projects in India. As a result of the project, the company will bring together solar, wind and energy storage technologies under one roof at its facility in Solapur, Maharashtra. Operations are scheduled to start as early as 2027. This project is an example of Zelestra’s commitment to pursue hybrid projects that offer the greatest certainty of interconnection by 2027 and 2028.

Expanding Clean Energy Portfolio

Zeletra’s portfolio of renewable projects expands over 5 GW of renewable projects. This major accomplishment is a testament to their leadership and resolve to grow clean energy production capacity. The firm’s clean energy pipeline includes the Solapur project. It provides a glimpse of what’s possible by providing a wide range of solutions to meet India’s growing demand for sustainable energy.

This collaboration with Suzlon will further equip Zelestra with operational intelligence and delivery excellence to deploy intricate multi-technology renewable energy solutions.

“This partnership with Suzlon marks a significant step in our vision to deliver even more ambitious and complex multi-technology renewable energy solutions for our customers across India. It sets the foundation for delivering our portfolio of 5GW, from our strategically sited and uniquely co-located hybrid projects with Interconnection certainty of 2027 and 2028.” – Sajay KV

Commitment to Sustainable Energy

The wind power capacity awarded to Suzlon will play a crucial role in Zelestra’s broader strategy to contribute to India’s energy transition. The company focuses on addressing the surging demand for dependable, always-on renewable energy. Yet this demand is only increasing as the whole nation continues to push itself to meet its sustainability aspirations.

Zelestra’s firm and dispatchable renewable energy contract with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, announced in March 2025, further illustrates its role in advancing India’s renewable energy landscape. The company is still focused on discovering ways to provide advanced solutions that help create a more sustainable planet while delivering on energy security.

“India’s energy transition landscape is at a pivotal juncture, where the pursuit of reliable, round-the-clock renewable power is taking centre stage. This project marks that critical shift. We are honored to collaborate with Zelestra, a global pioneer in decarbonisation, as we collectively propel India towards a sustainable energy future. At Suzlon, we’re committed to driving this transition forward, one innovative project at a time.”

Future Prospects

Zelestra continues to build partnerships and grow its project pipeline. Furthered by these sustained efforts, the company is well positioned to make the transition to a clean energy future. The partnership with Suzlon enhances its competitive capabilities. Together, they’ve pushed North Carolina to achieve groundbreaking milestones in renewable energy.

As Zelestra continues to forge partnerships and expand its project portfolio, it is well-positioned to lead the charge towards a sustainable energy future. The collaboration with Suzlon not only enhances its capabilities but also demonstrates a collective effort towards achieving significant milestones in the realm of renewable energy.
