Waaree Energies, one of the largest manufacturers of solar photovoltaic modules, is significantly ramping up its U.S. operations. As even a slight compliance move by the company goes, this is huge. Waaree Solar Americas, the company’s US subsidiary, recently announced a record-breaking solar module supply agreement. This transaction includes delivering 599 megawatts (MW) of solar energy to one unnamed independent power producer. This agreement, worth $176 million, will utilize the state-of-the-art modules to be produced at Waaree’s production facility in Brookshire, Texas.
The agreement is a large component of Waaree Energies’ overall plan to strengthen its US-based manufacturing capabilities. The latter includes a new 1.6 gigawatt (GW) solar module manufacturing unit that the company is constructing at the Brookshire site. By the end of 2025, this addition will more than double its total manufacturing capacity, bringing it up to 3.2 GW. This expansion is a direct response to the rapidly growing demand for renewable energy solutions among commercial, industrial, and municipal sectors.
Commitment to Clean Energy
Sunil Rathi, president of Waaree Solar Americas, called this agreement historic and significant. Furthermore, it demonstrates the company’s commitment to cultivating a robust clean energy supply chain right here in the United States.
“This agreement is a strong testament to Waaree’s commitment to developing a robust, US-based clean energy ecosystem.” – Sunil Rathi, Waaree Solar Americas president.
Waaree takes major stake in its Brookshire facility. This action underscores its strategic location to fulfill the increasing demand for American-made, high-quality solar modules. The company is passionate about enabling its partners to achieve their own aggressive energy objectives. Along the way, it emphasizes building jobs and a stable, affordable supply of energy.
Rising Demand and New Orders
The renewable energy sector is growing, creating opportunities as it develops and evolves to build new collaborations. This growth is driven by increased electrification from AI-driven data centers, infrastructure improvements, and industrial electrification. Yet, in Q1 FY25/26, Waaree booked an enviable 1.2 GW worth of new orders! This milestone is a clear indicator of their potency in today’s market.
Just last week Waaree Solar Americas bid and won a 599 MW PPA. They completed a 586 MWp solar module supply agreement, with deliveries scheduled in 2026 and 2027. Together, these advancements reflect the company’s proactive approach to addressing evolving market demands. They represent the increasing public and market demand for sustainable energy solutions.
A Vision for America’s Energy Transition
Waaree Energies has long had a great reputation for manufacturing excellence in India. In turn, the company is applying that expertise to help its partners here in the United States. Rathi further stressed that their partnership with the independent power producer—which they didn’t name—finds their vision to the core. It’s an incredibly important tool to help America move to cleaner energy.
“This partnership reflects our shared vision to accelerate America’s energy transition through dependable, high-performance solar technology. Backed by decades of manufacturing excellence in India, we’re proud to support our US partners with scalable solutions tailored to this evolving market.” – Sunil Rathi, Waaree Solar Americas president.
