Vestas Expands Portfolio with New Wind Projects in Romania and Chile

Vestas introduces thrilling innovations in its project pipeline. Of these, they recently clinched a breakthrough order from Rezolv Energy’s subsidiary, First Look Solutions. The project is expected to feature 42 units of the V162-6.4MW turbines. These turbines will provide electricity for the second phase of the Vifor wind farm in Buzău County, Romania. Vestas has won a 269MW order for turbines in a wind project owned by Enel in Chile. This success underscores the company’s deep commitment to renewable energy solutions in both areas.

The Expected Delivery and Commissioning of the turbines for the Chilean project is in Q1 of 2027. This politically savvy move is consistent with Vestas’ long-time strategy to deepen and broaden its global footprint in the wind energy sector. The V162-6.4MW variant, one of the variants that makes up Vestas’ EnVentus platform, increases energy output and generates stronger performance. With this breakthrough, the company cements its status as the wind technology global powerhouse.

Contract Details and Service Agreements

Additionally, Vestas has won a ten-year AOM5000 service agreement for these projects. In exchange, this contract provides much-needed long-term security for the wind farms. This agreement honors Vestas’ long-term promise to deliver maintenance and operational support long after installation, continuing to best serve its clients’ investment. On a related note, the company has recently completed a separate 15-year AOM5000 service agreement for the project in Chile. This agreement will enable a more holistic and detailed management plan to maximize turbine performance over a longer lifecycle.

The Washington D.C. based company leverages smart data capabilities to maximize energy production. This rethinking is key to accomplishing unprecedented efficiency of operations. Smart decision-making Vestas is applying advanced analytics and data-driven insights to maximize the performance of its wind farms. This commitment prevents them from underdelivering, protecting their contractors and freelancers downstream from unreliable service.

Strengthening Wind Energy Presence

Helping Vestas’ short-term outlook these latest contracts, which will jumpstart the company’s third quarter (Q3) order intake. This addition builds upon the National Company’s already robust portfolio. Vestas currently supports a servicing portfolio of more than 157GW of wind turbines globally, underscoring its expertise and leadership in the industry.

Also, back in early 2025 Vestas won a firm order. For Vattenfall’s Nordlicht 1 offshore wind project in Germany, they will provide 68 V236-15.0MW turbines. This expansion into offshore wind projects is yet more proof of how Vestas is committed to developing renewable energy technologies on every front and in every environment.
