Treaty Oak Clean Energy Breaks Ground on Major Solar Projects in Louisiana

Treaty Oak Clean Energy has officially begun construction on two large solar power developments in Louisiana. This is a significant accomplishment for the state’s transition to renewable energy. Combined, the Beekman Solar Project and the Hollis Creek Solar Project will have a significant impact on the environment. They will provide 385 megawatts (MW) of capacity to the Midwest region.

Situated in Morehouse Parish, the Beekman Solar Project has been engineered to generate up to 185 MWac. It reached its financial close in late November 2025, clearing the way for construction to start. The Hollis Creek Solar Project, also in Sabine Parish, glitters to a strong capacity of 200 MWac. Pretty exciting news considering last month, it FINALLY closed on the financing for that!

The joint venture of both projects is estimated to begin service in the first half of 2027. Joined together, these investments will not only build more renewable energy capacity in Louisiana but attract more investment into the region. Over their operational lifetimes, the projects are projected to contribute more than $100 million in state and local taxes, demonstrating their economic impact.

The construction phase of these solar facilities will generate an estimated 300 jobs at peaks. This $12 billion effort will create good, union jobs while improving economic returns. The projects are utilizing superior state-of-the-art tracker technology from Nextpower, optimizing solar energy capture with cutting edge technology.

Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak’s CEO, said he is proud of the company’s success during these uncertain economic times.

“Closing the financing for these two projects during a challenging economic year for renewable energy projects underscores our strong business model and commitment to bringing energy independence to states like Louisiana.” – Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak CEO

Elrod underscored the team effort it takes to make these projects a reality.

“I am incredibly proud of our teams and grateful to our financing partners, suppliers, and vendors for their collaboration in making these projects a reality while supporting our commitment to build a US-based supply chain for our customers.” – Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak CEO
