Collectively, the three companies will install 1 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at three of Sunterra’s largest photovoltaic parks in Bulgaria. The signing represents the second step in Sunterra RE’s eyes-wide-open strategy to significantly increase its energy storage capacity. The company is currently in operation at a 300 megawatt (MW) capacity. With this new project, that figure will be increased by more than three times, firmly establishing Sunterra RE as a crucial pillar in Bulgaria’s renewable energy scene.
Expanding Energy Storage Capacity
Aside from reducing emissions, the deployment of BESS will greatly enhance the efficiency and reliability of Sunterra RE’s solar parks. The company is harnessing new battery storage technology with an eye toward using energy more efficiently.
