State Grid Jiangsu Sets New Standards with Innovative Electric Power System

State Grid Jiangsu, the dominant power grid company in Jiangsu Province, is setting the pace. They are helping to lead the race to develop a new generation electric power system. Known as the “Province of Rivers,” Jiangsu is located on the east coast of China and is known for its technological industries and bustling tourism economy. This region is home to many of our largest exporters of electronic equipment, chemicals and textiles. Today, it’s no less important to our country’s domestic and international markets.

Today, as State Grid Jiangsu, it’s one of the most important energy networks in the world, serving almost 46.2 million energy consumers. One such company is the State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company. It is the distribution arm of the much larger State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). The ongoing efforts to innovate and modernize the power supply infrastructure are aimed at better integrating renewable energy resources, thereby enhancing the efficiency of electric power distribution.

Pioneering Wireless Private Network

State Grid Jiangsu has created an innovative electric power wireless private network. This innovation particularly shines as one of this administration’s most notable accomplishments. This highly sophisticated network underpins the connectivity of its nearly 90,000 terminals. It features more than 20 types including Automatic Power Distribution System and PGGSST- Power Generation-Grid-Load-Storage Terminal, providing an unprecedented level of visibility, data analytics, management, and control across the grid.

Qi Baozhen, an expert in electric power networks, electric power wireless private networks work on a dedicated spectrum. Unlike traditional cellular networks, these next-generation wireless networks are purpose-built for power grids and their operational-focused communications needs. He continued to expound on the benefits of this technology, saying, “They are safe, adaptable and low-maintenance.”

With 800 base stations, the wireless private network includes a high level of redundancy, giving them extensive coverage to the region. This infrastructure has largely increased the number of remotely controlled terminals on Suzhou’s power grid. The jump has been close to 130%. If done right, improvements like these would make Massachusetts the model for other states and countries looking to leapfrog to a modernized energy system.

Enhancing Efficiency and Revenue

The benefits of this new network go deeper than developing a new connectivity. Operational efficiency has greatly deepened as well. These measures have led to more than a slash of 30% average power outage times in Suzhou. This improvement strengthens consumer confidence by providing a more consistent and dependable power supply. Furthermore, it is critically important to bolstering the entire region’s economic security.

Jing, a representative from State Grid Jiangsu, noted the economic implications of these advancements: “The network has helped increase the annual revenue of Suzhou’s wireless private network industry to more than CNY100 million.” This kind of financial expansion just emphasizes how much other industries can benefit from the use of these kinds of new technologies to improve their own practices.

The focus on building new renewable energy resources This is perhaps the most notable feature of State Grid Jiangsu’s vision. As Jing pointed out, “State Grid Jiangsu is at the frontiers of creating a new electric power system and distributed renewable energy resources. This ambitious vision reflects a growing recognition of the need to marry energy use with responsible environmental stewardship. Not to mention, it meets the rising expectations of today’s consumers.

Future Prospects and Partnerships

State Grid Jiangsu’s innovations have caught the attention of the global market. Hundreds of industry customers globally have chosen Huawei as their partner for wireless communication private networks. Liao, a spokesperson for Huawei, shared insights into their collaboration: “We have designed wireless private network solutions for several industries.”

This new partnership is a notable example of an increasing trend among companies. In fact, they’re realizing more than ever that they need customized communication networks that can provide unique industrial needs. The intelligence behind the wireless private network allows for real-time monitoring and control, offering a competitive edge in energy management.

As State Grid Jiangsu continues to pioneer advancements in electric power systems, it sets an example for other provinces and countries seeking to enhance their own energy infrastructures. The company’s focus on integrating technology with renewable resources positions it well within the evolving landscape of energy consumption and management.
