Nordex, ranked number 4 in 2019, recently announced it has received major orders for wind turbines. In fact, those combined orders total over 1,600 MW of capacity, no small figure indeed. They cover the supply and installation of 73 turbines. Those will be delivered and installed in 2027-2028. Expectedly each turbine will be mostly in 7MW mode. Long-term servicing agreements support them, which promise maintenance over the next 15 years.
The new orders consists of N163 and N175 models. These models feature unbelievable maximum hub heights of 164 meters and 179 meters, respectively. These turbines are to be distributed among wind farms situated in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Lower Saxony. This move follows the company’s major milestone in January 2026. During that period, the company gained orders for a combined 508MW worth of wind turbines in Canada, including 36 N163/6.X turbines and four N175/6.X turbines.
Nordex was founded in 1996. Within just a few years of its launch, it emerged as one of the world’s major renewable energy success stories, providing services in 32 countries. The company has over 11,100 employees on its payrolls. It has a very robust manufacturing base with facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India and the United States.
Their most recent partnership with wpd is a continuation of their productive collaboration. In September 2025, wpd placed a landmark order for nearly 126MW of wind capacity. This decision went a long way toward cementing Nordex’s reputation for quality and reliability.
“wpd’s decision to select our technology again – this time including the N175/6.X turbines – after their significant order of nearly 126MW in September 2025, is a strong endorsement of both our team’s capabilities and our technological competence.” – Nordex spokesperson
“We are very pleased to continue our successful partnership, which has grown over many years.” – Nordex spokesperson
