Nordex, one of the world’s top wind turbine manufacturers, has scored a winning supply agreement. This agreement covers the engineering, procurement and construction of the Fageråsen Wind Farm in Sweden. With a total installed capacity of 117 megawatts, this project will include 34 turbines of which renewable energy produced will be around 700 GWh per year. The partnership with OX2 represents a significant move towards strengthening the region’s renewable energy potential.
The Fageråsen development will utilize 27 of the latest generation N163/6.X turbines, which come standard with anti-icing systems specially adapted for cold climates. This cutting-edge technology helps deliver the best performance, even in extreme weather conditions. The contract further includes a full service agreement, delivering up to 25 years of assistance for the turbines’ operation.
Construction on phase one has recently begun, which will include the installation of these 27 turbines. The first component deliveries for the foundations are expected to arrive as soon as 2026, with turbine installation set to begin in 2027. The Fageråsen Wind Farm is expected to commence full operations by spring 2028, solidifying its role in the region’s energy landscape.
Nordex’s dedication to quality and reliability is shown through a full-scope premium service arrangement, which has been included in the agreement. This service includes a production-based availability warranty for as long as 25 years. Most importantly, it ensures that the turbines will be running at maximum efficiency for their entire lifespan.
The County Administrative Board is also being consulted regarding the final layout for phase two of the Fageråsen project, which may expand the number of turbines in the future. Nordex has recently won orders for wind turbine projects totaling more than 414 megawatts (MW) in France, Belgium and Portugal. This achievement gives an extra push to its establishment in the European onshore wind energy sector, together with the Fageråsen project.
“This new order provides a great opportunity to further foster the excellent relationship and strong cooperation between Nordex and OX2 in the Nordic region,” – Till Junge, Nordex Group Region Nordic Vice-President.
“With the N163/6.X and its cold-climate package including the Advanced Anti Icing System, we are delivering yet again our tried, tested and highly efficient solutions tailored to the demanding conditions in Sweden,” – Till Junge, Nordex Group Region Nordic Vice-President.
