Nordex Expands Wind Energy Footprint with New Contracts in Iowa

Nordex, one of the largest global suppliers of wind turbines, recently booked big contracts from Alliant Energy. They will provide wind turbine packages for the state of Iowa, United States, with delivery planned for December 2025. This latest expansion is yet another example of Nordex’s commitment to growing renewable energy infrastructure across North America, and especially throughout the Midwest region.

The contracts include the manufacture and installation of 73 turbines, to be delivered in 2027 and 2028. Each order has long-term servicing agreements, which guarantees that the equipment will be maintained and work at its peak efficiency for its entire lifecycle. The contracts include the N163 turbine variants in addition to the recently launched N175/6.X. This agreement represents the first deployment of the N175/6.X to Canada, further solidifying Nordex’ position in the North American marketplace.

Global Manufacturing Network

Nordex runs a tight manufacturing network with facilities in five countries. Their infrastructure is in Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, Spain and the United States. This wide ranging footprint allows the company to manufacture its turbines at scale. It gives them the flexibility to reach multiple markets while responding to regional and local needs.

Since its founding, the company has been responsible for the installation of about 57 gigawatts (GW) of wind power capacity. This remarkable success extends across 40+ markets. Onshore turbines in the 4–7 megawatt (MW) range are Nordex’s specialty. These turbines are purpose-built to meet the requirements of land-constrained countries and grid-constrained areas. This strategic product development and localization allows Nordex to meet varying local and market requirements efficiently.

Commitment to Innovation

Nordex is quickly becoming known as an innovative leader when it comes to developing new wind energy technology. In the 12 years the company has been in operation, they’ve perfected proven anti-icing technology, a huge boon in cold climate regions. Manav Sharma, CEO of Nordex Group North America, stated, “Our proven anti-icing technology continues to be a key factor for success in cold climate regions, and now with the addition of the N175 to our offered products in Canada, we can help our customers maximize energy production year-round and help further reduce the levelized cost of energy.”

Along with their impressive technological breakthroughs, Nordex has been recognized by industry leaders with multiple awards for their efforts. Hover Energy has received three 2025 Power Technology Excellence Awards for its innovative development of intelligent microgrids and distributed renewables. Further proving the competitive innovation climate in the sector, this achievement was the result of collaborative work.

Client Trust and Future Prospects

As Nordex keeps increasing its footprint in the renewable energy sector, the company is thankful to its clients. Manav Sharma emphasized this sentiment: “We are thankful for the continued trust of our customers.” These kinds of partnerships are imperative as Nordex continues to cut a path through the ever-evolving sustainable energy solutions space.

Moving forward, we expect Nordex to continue to lead the charge smart microgrids and distributed renewables. With an increasing demand for clean energy solutions worldwide, the company is well-equipped to meet future challenges while contributing to the global transition towards renewable energy sources.
