Nextpower Arabia Secures Major Contract for Bisha Solar Project

Nextpower Arabia, a joint venture between Nextpower and Abunayyan Holding has gone out on a limb with its unprecedented pledge. They will provide 2.25GW of solar tracking systems to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the record breaking Bisha Solar project in Saudi Arabia. This contract signifies Nextpower Arabia’s first major undertaking since it officially began operations, marking a significant step in the company’s growth and contribution to local renewable energy initiatives.

A key goal of the Bisha Solar project is to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s developing renewable energy market by increasing the presence of utility-scale solar capacity. Nextpower Arabia will lead all project activities, including sales and market development as well as manufacturing, delivery of production equipment and supply chain management. By bringing these operations in-house and to the local level, the developer aims to make building and maintaining solar plants productive and efficient.

Nextpower Arabia is right in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. It has the laudatory purpose to tackle our growing carbon footprint and advance cleaner energy innovations. The organization focuses on local control and decision-making to complement the national industrial strategy. This strategy builds new solar supply chain capacity for potential development partners.

Turki Al-Amri, CEO of Abunayyan Holding PIF subsidiary, highlighted the value of the Bisha project in realizing wider renewable energy aspirations.

“The Bisha project will significantly contribute to national and regional renewable energy transformation objectives.” – Turki Al-Amri

Beyond stabilizing shoddy supply and disrupted delivery pipelines, localizing manufacturing and production processes will provide a wealth of social, economic, cultural and health benefits. Al-Amri noted that

“By manufacturing and producing Nextpower Arabia systems in the kingdom, we can deliver a wide range of benefits from our newly localised solar supply chain for our development partners while advancing Saudi’s national industrialisation strategy.” – Turki Al-Amri

Nextpower Arabia’s role in this landmark project underscores its commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s transition towards a greener future. As it takes on this significant contract with L&T, the company stands poised to play a crucial part in shaping the region’s renewable energy landscape.
