The Mammoth Solar Project, at full buildout, will be one of the largest agrivoltaics facilities in the United States. Economically, it will change the future of energy generation in Pulaski and Starke Counties, Indiana. Doral Renewables, the developer of the project, has recently made a game-changing decision. They then chose NovaSource Power Services to provide essential operations and maintenance (O&M) services for this monumental project.
The project will proceed in four separate phases. The initial stage, Mammoth North, is expected to scale up to a stunning 480 megawatts direct current (MWdc). Construction of this first phase is anticipated to wrap up by Q4 2024. The upcoming phases, Mammoth South, Mammoth Central I, and Mammoth Central II, will each have a capacity of 360 MWdc. All three of these phases are scheduled to open by 2026.
NovaSource Power Services brings a wealth of experience to the venture, managing over 30 gigawatts (GW) of solar assets globally. The company will be using cutting edge data analytics and asset management technologies. This will increase the energy production capabilities of the Mammoth Solar Project by more than 200%. This deliberate, systemic strategy hones in on making the facility perform. That’s why it provides for peak efficiency without ever compromising adherence to each and every regulatory requirement.
Chris Hinton, vice-president of Doral Renewables Asset Management was enthusiastic about this collaboration.
“We are thrilled to partner with NovaSource Power Services to bring the Mammoth Solar Project to life. Mammoth Solar’s commitment to farming families, dual-use practices and the local communities will allow farmers to produce food and crops alongside the solar panels, maximising their land and profitability.” – Chris Hinton, Doral Renewables Asset Management vice-president
Along with O&M services, NovaSource will be managing gross operating profit and offering generator operator (GO) support. The company is further committed to meeting compliance standards established by Natural Environment Research Council.
Irfan Bharde, senior vice-president and chief commercial officer of NovaSource Power Services, stressed the groundbreaking nature of the project.
“Mammoth Solar Project represents a groundbreaking approach to agrivoltaics, and we are proud to collaborate with Doral Renewables on a project that sets new industry benchmarks for scale, sustainability and innovation.” – Irfan Bharde, NovaSource Power Services senior vice-president and chief commercial officer
The Mammoth Solar Project has lofty ambitions not just to lead the way in generating renewable energy. Its community-first approach makes it stand apart. This holistic approach to new energy production seeks to protect and improve existing energy production and support local agricultural practices to coexist with solar technology.
