One of the world’s biggest renewable energy developers, Low Carbon also recently signed four balancing PPAs with ElectroRoute. These settlements will fuel its solar ventures all over the UK. Together, these projects would add an outstanding 140 megawatts (MW) of capacity. Combined, they will produce enough renewable electricity to power more than 50,000 homes annually. The collaboration is an important development in the UK’s goal to increase its renewable energy and its collaboration with other countries.
Low Carbon currently owns and operates four solar projects. Together, these projects will provide a major impetus for the country’s ongoing transition to sustainable, renewable energy sources. The UK’s net-zero policies are some of the most ambitious in the world. These massive offshore wind projects alone will make a major contribution to decarbonising the electricity sector by the 2030s. Marco Verspuij, Low Carbon’s head of power management, said that renewables would have to play a key part in achieving these aims.
“Forging partnerships with industry leaders, like ElectroRoute, is critical to help ensure 24/7 market access and trading services for our assets, as we continue to make significant progress in decarbonising the UK grid,” Verspuij stated.
ElectroRoute will ensure low carbon’s solar projects have the market access and trading service they need to operate as efficiently as possible. Brian Kennedy, head of client origination for ElectroRoute, said he is excited for the collaboration.
We are thrilled to partner with Low Carbon on these four solar projects. Collectively, we’ll be playing a huge part in the UK’s growing renewable energy capacity. ElectroRoute has a long-standing commitment to playing a positive role in the energy transition in Great Britain. These PPAs are stable, predictable pathways for renewable energy developers. Kennedy noted.
Together, Low Carbon and ElectroRoute are a powerful force to be reckoned with in Great Britain. Together, we’ll begin to open the floodgates for more renewable energy projects. This alliance is further evidence of the deep commitment within our member companies to help support a cleaner, more prosperous, more resilient energy future in the UK.
