Hover Energy has now won three coveted 2025 Power Technology Excellence Awards. This recognition acknowledges their leadership in deploying intelligent microgrids and distributed renewable energy solutions. BayWa r.e. Nordic has recently received an environmental permit for the Ryamon solar park. This award comes at an important time – a recognition of the company’s growing impact on renewable energy generation in Sweden and Finland.
The Ryamon solar park symbolizes Korea’s commitment towards a new renewable energy future. It will be sited in the Alvesta municipality of Kronoberg County, Sweden. At a full capacity of 250 megawatts (MW), the park will produce enough electricity to supply an estimated 50,000 Swedish homes. We’re looking forward to smartly deploying climate investments in Kronoberg County and reaping climate benefits for both regions. It will further support the production of green energy throughout the region.
Smooth Permitting Process
Martin Sjödahl, Nordic permitting manager at BayWa r.e. Nordic, emphasized the significance of selecting an appropriate project location. He emphasized that this strategic selection was crucial to enabling a swift and efficient permitting process.
“The reason the permitting process has gone so smoothly is that we select our locations with great care. This site does not affect nearby residential environments.” – Martin Sjödahl
This careful planning ensures that disruption is minimized to local communities while protecting our environment and natural resources.
Even with this progress, grid capacity and other challenges are ever-present. As it stands, the grid currently has no excess capacity until at least 2032. This lack of flexibility would further delay the potential project’s timeline for first energy delivery. BayWa r.e. Nordic is currently working with E.ON Energidistribution, the local grid owner, to advance this fully permitted project to the top of the queue.
“As it stands today, there is no available grid capacity until at least 2032. We are in dialogue with the grid owner, E.ON Energidistribution, and hope they will prioritise this fully permitted project and promptly develop plans together with Svenska kraftnät for the necessary grid reinforcements to connect the solar park. It will take several years before the facility is ready to deliver renewable energy, but once completed, it will provide substantial benefits.” – Martin Sjödahl
Future Developments
BayWa r.e. Nordic is developing the Ryamon solar park project. They have further submitted a Section 36 application to the Scottish government to develop the Redshaw battery energy storage system. This new system, based in South Lanarkshire, is intended to help enhance the storage and management of renewable energy across the UK.
Together, the innovations of these two projects demonstrate BayWa r.e. Nordic’s commitment to accelerating renewable energy innovations. On top of that, they’re addressing their regulatory and infrastructural hurdles with brute force. The company continues to work in tandem with local law enforcement and local grid operators. Their mission is to improve energy access equality and foster national climate ambitions in all three Scandinavian countries.
