HiTHIUM to Revolutionize Energy Storage with 4GWh Deployment in Saudi Arabia

HiTHIUM, a leading Chinese manufacturer of energy storage solutions, has recently reclaimed a bombing contract for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). They’ve been awarded to deploy two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Saudi Arabia. Construction on the projects began in less-oil-rich provinces of Tabuk and Hail to the north. Those three, collectively, will produce a combined 4 gigawatt hours (GWh) of capacity. This historic initiative will address gaps in the region’s energy infrastructure and help navigate America’s transition to renewable sources of energy.

HiTHIUM assumes responsibility for all facets of the project. They’re charged with ensuring optimal system design, supply chain, installation supervision, and ongoing maintenance over decades. The BESS projects will utilize HiTHIUM’s revolutionary ∞Cell 1175Ah technology. This inventive fix has made it the world’s first mass-produced long-duration energy storage system. These systems will take advantage of state-of-the-art battery cells arranged in blocks of 6.25 megawatt-hours (MWh).

Advanced Technology for Enhanced Performance

HiTHIUM’s ∞Cell 1175Ah technology focuses on maximizing battery performance and reliability. For their battery cells, innovative completely sealed components paired with automated dust warnings provide superior dust resistance that drastically lowers maintenance needs. In fact, complex components within these cells are even rated for an astounding 40,000 hours of constant use.

Temperature control is another critical part of this new technology. Technologically sophisticated battery cells with multi-layer insulation and extreme temperature tolerance. This design results in the internal temperatures staying 8°C to 10°C cooler than the surrounding environment. This technology has been proven to work successfully even in harsh environments. It’s got rugged temperature tolerance from -30°C to 60°C, making it a highly stress durable device.

A Commitment to Clean Energy

The deployment of these BESS projects represents a significant achievement for both Saudi Arabia and HiTHIUM. Keramat Fakhari, president of HiTHIUM MEA, emphasized the significance of this project:

“This landmark 4GWh project marks a pivotal moment — not just for Saudi Arabia, but for HiTHIUM’s commitment to delivering mission-critical energy storage where it matters most.”

This follows a recent global collaboration agreement announced by hiTHIUM in January 2025 with Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group. This new partnership underscores the company’s deepening commitment to the energy storage market.

“By integrating our industry-leading ∞Cell technology with SEC’s vision and Alfanar’s regional expertise, we’re redefining renewable integration in extreme environments. The deployments in Tabuk and Hail set a new benchmark for gigawatt-scale storage globally, proving HiTHIUM’s role in accelerating the clean energy transition.”

The two BESS projects in Tabuk and Hail largely aim to improve energy resilience in the local communities. They set a new global precedent for gigawatt-scale storage solutions. Through the adoption of market-leading technology and forward-looking design principles, HiTHIUM continues to showcase its dedication towards pioneering clear-energy solutions.

Setting New Standards Globally

Fortunately, the world is starting to pay more attention to sustainable energy practices. Efforts from HiTHIUM and SEC are a big step in the right direction as the world works to develop a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

As the world increasingly focuses on sustainable energy practices, initiatives like those launched by HiTHIUM and SEC play a critical role in shaping a cleaner and more reliable energy future.
