Envision Energy and GES Forge Strategic Partnership for Offshore Wind Projects in Vietnam

This alliance between Envision Energy and GES represents an unprecedented, potent strategic alliance. Collectively, they will improve the performance of battery energy storage systems and strengthen Spain’s and Europe’s wind power capacity. With the partnership launched in November of 2021, this collaborative effort aims to strengthen and quicken the region’s clean energy transition.

Under the terms of the partnership, they will work together to develop offshore wind projects from ENERCON’s extensive portfolio including 16 EN-226/8.XMW offshore wind turbines. Each of these projects is tremendously important. They are the first nearshore offshore wind project group to be initiated under Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII. This synergy is critical, explained Edward Hou, senior vice-president and president of Envision Energy Asia-Pacific.

“This collaboration marks the first nearshore offshore wind project cluster delivered under Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII and opens a new chapter for offshore wind development in South East Asia.” – Edward Hou

The two projects will start concurrently. Developers are aiming for full grid connection by October of 2026. The sites now chosen have average wind speeds of more than 7 meters per second, speeds which allow for energy to be produced efficiently.

Envision Energy carries tremendous capacity as it joins this effort. For more than three years, the firm has been a pro at handling offshore projects in China. Once again, they take advantage of their vast experience to develop far-reaching energy solutions. Given the model’s success at scale, it is little wonder that Envision Energy has been named one of the world’s most innovative companies in renewable energy.

Ashok Ramachandran, Vice President of GES explained what went into their decision to partner with Envision Energy.

“We selected Envision Energy as our turbine supplier based on their technological leadership in renewable energy, the maturity and reliability of the EN-226/8.XMW platform, and their extensive experience in gigawatt-scale grid-connected operations.” – Ashok Ramachandran

We’re excited to see this partnership advance renewable energy infrastructure. It is a significant step toward meeting Vietnam’s commitments to sustainable, renewable energy development. State-of-the-art technology will roll out hand in glove with well-established new operational models. Together, this powerful combination will help turbo-charge the region’s transition from coal to cleaner energy sources.
