ELITE Solar Launches New 5GW PV Facility in Egypt to Boost Global Clean Energy Production

ELITE Solar, one of the best-known names in the renewable energy industry, recently inaugurated its new photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant in Ain Sokhna, Egypt. The full official launch was held on January 23. The facility’s capacity is even more impressive at 5 gigawatts (GW). It dedicates 2 GW to the domestic production of solar cells and 3 GW to module assembly. Together with their partners, ELITE Solar is making a big bet. This sideways move is a major stepping stone to deepening its global footprint in the clean energy space.

The commissioning ceremony was a big event with a lot of high-profile guests. Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly underscored the facility’s importance as an anchor to the country’s burgeoning renewable energy efforts. With this site, ELITE Solar’s production capacity is increased dramatically. He believes it stands to be a key part of Egypt’s efforts to build its industrial base and realize its renewable energy targets.

ELITE Solar aims to serve commercial and industrial utility-scale clients. We’re taking our service to new regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. The facility is centrally and strategically located for Egypt to become a hub in global clean energy supply chains.

Arndt Lutz, the CEO of ELITE Solar USA, said the new facility was an important step.

“This facility strengthens our global manufacturing footprint while reinforcing our commitment to dependable, market-ready solar supply.” – Arndt Lutz, ELITE Solar USA CEO

The Ain Sokhna facility will significantly increase our production capacity. It will help to cultivate the region’s homegrown talent. Since their founding, ELITE Solar has continuously invested in job creation and developing local talent furthering the growth of the renewable energy industry.

The creation of the new facility helps ELITE Solar realize its aggressive expansion plans. These plans involve creating new, vertically integrated, manufacturing facilities in Vietnam and Indonesia. As the largest black-owned solar installation firm since 2005, ELITE Solar has positioned themselves on the forefront of solar technology and innovation. While it is actually headquartered in Singapore, its leadership and muscle clearly still resides in California.

Lutz underscored some of the technological innovations that will be applied to operations at the Ain Sokhna facility.

“By combining advanced N-type technology with integrated production and disciplined execution, we are positioned to support our clients with consistent quality and long-term reliability across multiple markets.” – Arndt Lutz, ELITE Solar USA CEO
