DEME Secures Key Contracts for Polish BC-Wind Offshore Project

DEME’s subsidiary, the Belgian company GeoSea, has already won contracts for the project to install offshore wind infrastructure for the BC-Wind project in Poland. This first-round financing announced today is a major step towards building up the country’s renewable energy manufacturing capacity. The project will be installed approximately 23 kilometers from the Polish Baltic Sea coastline. Upcoming installation activities are already scheduled for 2027 and 2028.

The contracts include the supply and installation of all monopile foundations and their inter-array cables, within the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. Furthermore, they require the building of an export cable. DEME is eager to put its state-of-the-art assets and capabilities to work for these critical activities. This involves using the cable installation vessels Living Stone and Viking Neptun.

Advanced Technology and Equipment

DEME’s Orion will be instrumental in installing 27 monopile foundations. To that end, the company has outfitted its vessels with cutting-edge technology. This requires everything from a state-of-the-art motion compensated pile gripper to a massive 5,000-tonne crane to complex motion compensated ballasting systems. This new, specialized equipment will deliver timely and exacting installations and will play an essential role in the collective success of the BC-Wind venture.

The deployment of this innovative technology will help to optimize their operations efficiencies and furthers DEME’s strong commitment toward sustainable development. The installation of offshore wind infrastructure is critical in advancing Poland’s renewable energy landscape and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

“We are proud to contribute to Poland’s offshore wind ambitions and to continue our collaboration with Ocean Winds.” – DEME Offshore Energy managing director Hugo Bouvy

Ongoing Commitments in Offshore Wind Energy

DEME also recently made waves when it won a $1.7 billion contract to build the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm off Taiwan. This is in addition to the recently awarded, multi-year BC-Wind project. This makes the news even more exciting as it highlights the company’s growing footprint in the global offshore wind ecosystem. Through these actions, DEME is further proving its unmatched capabilities and continued commitment to renewable energy projects across the globe.

An incredible achievement, DEME is the first company to have won three 2025 Power Technology Excellence Awards. These awards recognize the company’s leadership and innovation in the charging infrastructure space. These awards further highlight the company’s commitment to delivering quality. They further enhance its growing reputation for being a key player in the global offshore wind energy market.

“With financial close now completed, we are pleased to see the BC-Wind project progressing to the installation phase.” – Ocean Winds BC-Wind project director Pete Geddes

Strategic Communication Approach

DEME isn’t only interested in operational success. Today, it’s doing that and more by combining business intelligence with journalism’s best practices to engage professionals on 36 groundbreaking media channels. This umbrella approach is intended to develop more meaningful relationships across the industry, which in turn help raise greater awareness of renewable energy projects and the industries’ benefits.

DEME is doing big things with the BC-Wind project and beyond. Indeed its commitment to proving offshore wind energy is no less remarkable than its perseverance in facing repeated attacks. The company’s strategic investments and partnerships are positioned to play a vital role in shaping a sustainable future for Poland and beyond.
