Cadeler Secures Major Wind Turbine Installation Contract in Poland

Cadeler has recently entered a large framework agreement with Ocean Winds. They will be responsible for the transport and installation of the offshore wind turbines at the 390MW BC-Wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. This contract marks the first direct collaborative partnership between Cadeler and Ocean Winds. It underscores their strong dedication to moving renewable energy initiatives forward in Poland.

Operations are scheduled to begin out of the Port of Gdańsk. Installation construction is scheduled to start in March 2028. The project will deploy Cadeler’s cutting-edge O-class wind turbine installation vessel. Thanks to this powerhouse vessel, Siemens Gamesa can effectively install all 26 of the massive 14MW turbines. The installation process is expected to take no more than 150 days. In this context, it is set to be a key player in lifting Poland’s nascent renewable energy market.

Strategic Importance of the BC-Wind Project

The BC-Wind project is located approximately 23 km from the Polish coast. It’s poised to become a major force in advancing Poland’s renewable energy ambitions. Once operational, the wind farm will produce as much clean electricity as needed by almost 500,000 homes. This new initiative is an important part of the country’s effort to build a robust offshore wind market.

Cadeler has long highlighted its dedication to this developing business, further solidifying its place in aiding Ocean Winds with industry-leading resources. This project has the potential to not only boost our clean energy economy, but revitalize local economies through job creation and infrastructure investment.

“Poland is establishing itself as a key offshore wind market in Europe, and this project will be a significant step in strengthening the country’s renewable energy ambitions. We look forward to expanding our presence in the Polish Baltic Sea, building on the strong pipeline of projects we have already secured in the region.” – no specific source

Previous Contracts and Future Collaborations

Cadeler just announced a contract with Synera Renewable Energy. They’ll do it all again on the Formosa 4 Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan, scheduled to open in August 2025. This serves to further emphasize Cadeler’s growing footprint in the offshore wind industry and its abilities on an international stage.

The contract with Ocean Winds builds on an earlier vessel reservation agreement signed in February 2025. This action represents a collaborative relationship that is sure to yield collective dividends. Cadeler’s CEO, Mikkel Gleerup, expressed confidence in their ability to deliver high-quality service for this project, highlighting their expertise and specialized fleet.

“With this firm contract now signed, we are ready to bring our best-in-class fleet and experienced crews to support Ocean Winds on this important project.” – Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup

Looking Ahead

Cadeler, for one, is getting ready to dive into this exciting new venture. The company has clear ambitions to increase its footprint in the Polish Baltic Sea. The company aims to leverage its experience and resources to not only fulfill contractual obligations but contribute meaningfully to renewable energy expansion efforts in Poland.

The BC-Wind project is an example of the rapidly expanding global trend for offshore wind energy development in Europe. Cadeler is laying the groundwork for solid partnerships and an unwavering pledge to quality. They are well-equipped to deliver on Vermont’s ambitious renewable energy future for the region.
