Blue Elephant Energy (BEE), a renewable energy company founded in 2016, has announced its acquisition of a substantial wind portfolio in Germany, totaling 381 megawatts (MW). This calculated acquisition underscores BEE’s continued commitment to facilitating sustainable energy solutions. The company has since pivoted its efforts toward solar, wind, and battery-storage projects all over Europe.
The acquired portfolio consists of 37 operational wind farms that deliver 260 MW of capacity. In addition, there are three more developing sites ready to bring in another 75 MW as soon as they start building. These wind farms operate pursuant to Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act. This ensures that they are consistently providing more regulatory bang for the repowering buck over the longer term. With the operational sites target to go online by 2027, the future of renewable energy in the region looks promising.
As it stands now, BEE is already set to make significant waves on the wind energy front, with four more developments already breaking ground as we speak. These projects have a total capacity of 46 MW and are planned to be commissioned in 2026. Once we complete the acquisition, BEE will have a total renewable energy portfolio of 2.1 gigawatts (GW). Wind will be a major part of this, accounting for roughly 25% of our total owned and contracted generation.
This expanded portfolio will generate enough electricity to power roughly 33,000 homes. You should see a big annual return on it. This expansion is part of BEE’s long-term strategy to establish itself as a premier developer in the growing renewable energy segment.
Tim Kallas, vice president of Business Enterprise Ecosystem, on behalf of BEE, said he was excited about the acquisition, adding,
“With this acquisition, we are securing a high-quality portfolio and tripling our wind portfolio in one of our core markets.”
The transaction is still pending regulatory approval, expected in early 2026. This move further emphasizes BEE’s dedication to creating and following industry standards while seeking new and exciting growth opportunities in the renewable space.
Stephan Eckermann, transaction lead from WIND-projekt was optimistic about the partnership, saying,
“We are delighted to have found a strong partner in BEE with green DNA that suits us perfectly.”
BEE’s latest initiatives are a perfect example of their commitment to sustainability and innovation within the renewable energy landscape. The company is looking forward to creating new collaborations with partners like WIND-projekt, helping open the door to a brighter, greener future.
