Belectric and Severn Trent Green Power Announce Major Solar Initiative in the UK

Belectric, a member of the Elevion Group, has recently won a large contract for the installation of PV with Severn Trent Green Power (STGP). Collectively, they’ll build four solar power projects across the UK. Combined, these projects will reach a total capacity of almost 210 megawatts-peak (MWp). This massive generation would completely transform the country’s renewable energy transformation.

Construction for these solar farms, though, won’t begin until March 2026. Subject to parks funding, we hope to complete the development by August 2027-January 2028. Though the developed projects’ sites have been selected, they span Warwickshire, Shropshire, Yorkshire, and North Yorkshire. Despite these commonalities, Belectric plans to develop a unique design for each solar plant. Importantly, they will consider the specific environmental and technical conditions of each place.

Belectric seeks and solves engineering challenges across a broad spectrum. This has included relocating and removing dangerous overhead power lines and gas pipelines in the project areas. In addition to this, the Warwickshire site will feature specially created areas to protect local skylark populations, helping to improve the biodiversity in the area.

The new partnership with STGP is an exciting step in this direction, said Thorsten Blanke, CEO of Belectric.

“We are proud to be partnering with Severn Trent Green Power on this significant portfolio of solar projects.” – Thorsten Blanke

This partnership reaffirms an instrumental achievement for Belectric in the context of the UK renewable energy market. Belectric will use its knowledge to build solar farms. This new approach will improve how fast projects get completed, while ensuring that safety and efficiency remain a top priority.

According to STGP’s Jonathon Wroe, this initiative is a key element of the company’s renewable energy strategy moving forward.

“These are the first solar projects of scale that STGP is bringing forward, and they mark an important step in our long-term commitment to renewable energy.” – Jonathon Wroe
