ACCIONA Energía Expands Renewable Footprint in Philippines with Major Auction Win

ACCIONA Energía has achieved impressive milestones with its renewable energy projects. Just this past month, they won a 20-year power supply agreement in the Philippines’ latest renewable energy auction. This contract ensures the entire production of two extremely healthy projects. Combined, they will produce more than 281 megawatts (MW) and considerably diversify the country’s energy composition. Among the awarded projects is the 101 MW Kalayaan 2 wind farm in Laguna, which is already under construction. In addition, the 180 MWp Daanbantayan solar plant in Cebu is scheduled to start construction before the end of 2025.

The award was awarded under the fourth round of the Philippines Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Programme. This latest move is intended to increase the share of renewable energy sources in power generation throughout the archipelago. This achievement marks a big milestone for ACCIONA Energía. It cements their increasing footprint in Southeast Asia, particularly with the Philippines and Thailand.

Strategic Enhancements and Future Plans

To strengthen its foothold in important markets, ACCIONA Energía has redefined its partnerships across Southeast Asia. The firm today operates large portfolios in the Philippines and Thailand. It’s got ambitious plans for even more growth in these areas in the years ahead. ACCIONA Energía is determined to do pioneering, first-mover work that’ll create a lasting impact on the region’s renewable energy landscape. That strategic alignment is key to making it happen.

At the end of June 2025, ACCIONA Energía has a total installed capacity of 15,147 MW and a consolidated capacity of 13,425 MW. This bold presence places them in the perfect position to make major strides in attaining the Philippines’ renewable energy goals. This successful bid in the Auction makes clear that the company is serious about ramping up the nation’s renewable energy deployment. It’s all part of the effort to decrease our reliance on fossil fuels!

Projects Set to Transform Energy Landscape

The Kalayaan 2 wind farm in Laguna, which is now being constructed. Once built, it will double the Philippines’ wind power capacity. The upcoming Daanbantayan solar plant in Cebu, expected to begin construction before 2025, is an exciting project. Now with this new initiative, ACCIONA Energía will be able to maintain the leadership of the production of solar energy within the Southeast region.

These projects will represent a major advance in diversifying the Philippines’ energy mix. They dovetail nicely with the country’s goal of ramping up adoption of renewable energy sources. The country is working to balance its growing energy needs with a commitment to sustainability. ACCIONA Energía’s projects, which will bring those costs even lower, will be critical in getting there.”

Commitment to Sustainable Energy Solutions

ACCIONA Energía’s recent actions are a testament to their commitment to sustainable, renewable energy solutions. The firm is ramping up its business in markets such as the Philippines and Thailand. This play strengthens its own portfolio while bolstering the energy transition happening around the world in the fight against climate change through support for cleaner energy options.
