Eve 1V is now out in the wild! It is the second member of the Eve 1 family, alongside the Eve 1D. This multifaceted innovation machine broadens the manufacturing landscape with a unique mix of solutions built for maximizing quality and output at manufacturing speed. The new Eve 1V takes a totally different approach, eliminating frame-by-frame stitching altogether. This new innovation ensures continuous, real-time measurement capability while removing the danger associated with any physical contact.
Engineered to withstand disruption from sunlight, reflections, and ambient light, Eve 1V ensures consistent performance in any operation. Measuring wheels don’t need to be replaced or recalibrated either, which is a major benefit of its maintenance-free operation. This function greatly reduces operational procedures and lessens the downtime that is often experienced with maintenance activities.
Eve 1V’s material-friendly design lets users easily measure fragile, soft or textured surfaces without fear of hurting them. This feature is especially useful in fields where high accuracy or sensitive handling are critical factors in the measuring experience. By removing slippage error Eve 1V ensures operational robustness. In turn, service stoppages are reduced, and total productivity is enhanced.
Eve 1V removes the worry of wear and tear, slippage, contamination, and requirement of physical access to the part being measured. This is made possible by the fact that it requires no physical contact at all. As a non-contact method, LiDAR technology enables precise measurements to be taken based on an object’s velocity along with its position across three-dimensional space. Being a specific type of 4D lidar, Eve 1V is exceptional in its high precision in measuring the velocity and the length of the object.
The Eve 1V works based on the advanced Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) perception platform. According to Mina Rezk, a spokesperson for the development team, “Eve 1V was built to solve that exact gap: A compact, eye-safe, non-contact motion sensor that delivers sub-millimeter-per-second velocity accuracy without touching the material, so manufacturers can eliminate slippage errors, avoid material damage, and reduce maintenance-related downtime, enabling higher yield and more predictable operations.”
The benefits of Eve 1V go far beyond just cost-effective measurement capabilities. Rezk elaborated on this aspect by stating, “That delivers three practical advantages in a factory: One, maintenance-free operation with no measuring wheels to replace or recalibrate; Two, material friendliness—you can measure delicate, soft, or textured surfaces without risk of damage, and three, operational robustness—no slippage errors and fewer stoppages for service.”
Eve 1D and Eve 1V share the exact same FMCW perception platform, they serve distinct industrial use cases. Eve 1D for distance measurement and vibration detection Eve 1V for precise velocity and length measurement. This flexibility gives manufacturers the ability to pick the right tool for the job, finding success with the tool that best fits their operational needs.
