Todoist Launches AI-Powered Feature to Transform Speech into Tasks

Doist, the company behind the insanely popular productivity app Todoist, just launched a revolutionary new feature—Todoist Ramble. This cutting-edge tool enables users to quickly and easily add new tasks to their to-do lists with the sound of their voice! This new, experimental “voice-to-tasks” feature connects the power of voice to a bigger mission, Todoist Assist. Our aim is to deeply embed artificial intelligence into the app and exponentially improve user experience.

In November, Todoist Ramble released into public beta testing. Prior to that, it had been tested by about 150,000 active users from the Todoist Experimental program. This massive public testing phase gave all developers time to practice with the feature and make necessary adjustments ahead of its official launch. Todoist Ramble is now rolling out to all users on iOS, Android, desktop and web platforms. It supports a jaw-dropping 38 languages, putting the tool within reach of a truly diverse global audience.

Todoist Ramble uses Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Live model through Vertex AI, allowing for real-time human speech comprehension. Users can easily turn on the feature, which allows them to tap the Ramble icon and verbally describe their tasks. The AI is able to understand free form speech conversationally and turn that into structured tasks greatly simplifying the task management experience.

Perhaps the coolest thing about Todoist Ramble is the way it allows for a real, live two way communication. It’s important because users can really flex their workflows with simple statements like, “Just kidding, make that Thursday.” They should be able to conclude their updates with a plain “that’s all.” This new functionality makes it possible to create tasks in a fluid, dynamic manner with little to no typing required.

In the time since its beta launch, Todoist Ramble has shown some truly remarkable engagement numbers. During just the first three weeks of the public test, nearly 76,000 users dove into nearly 290,000 individual Ramble sessions. On both desktop and mobile they were highly engaged! We’ve seen an incredible 900% increase in user engagement with this feature. New users on our entry-level plan are upgrading at a roughly five-times higher rate than they were before they first embarked on their journey with Todoist Ramble.

Todoist Ramble lets you skip keystrokes. Until now, users had to physically reach for their phones to scan. This feature continues to center the user experience on voice-first interaction without eliminating the tactile component of task input altogether.

The upcoming release of Todoist Ramble is an exciting example of Doist’s multi-year dedication to integrating AI-powered features into their app. By enhancing the way users interact with their tasks through voice commands, Todoist aims to streamline productivity and make task management more intuitive and accessible.
