Tinder Launches Double Date Feature to Enhance Group Dating Experience

Update — Tinder has officially released its awesome new feature, Double Date. This unique addition is sure to change the dating landscape for users, both old and new. This unique new tool lets users partner up with their friends and vet possible matches together. Double Date Available worldwide — Global rollout starting in July

With Double Date, you can pair up with a friend to fight together. As a group, you’ll navigate through other paired users who are searching for their perfect match! In order to create matches, matched users need to have at least one individual preference in common with each other, including preferences for gender and sexual orientation. This provides a guarantee that the matches arranged are both meaningful and mutually compatible.

Players can invite up to three friends to participate in this one-of-a-kind social dating experience. When either person in a matched pair gets a match, a group chat with all four parties is started. This arrangement gives things an informal feel. It creates space for all participants to hear from one another as a collective group before they move into smaller, one-on-one conversations.

If you’d rather take an analog approach, you can heart a specific profile inside your matched cohort. That’s the best way to demonstrate your enthusiasm! This flexibility allows users to date in a way that fits their unique style, all while retaining the collaborative essence of the feature.

Double Date has been tested extensively in chosen markets such as parts of Latin America, Spain and the Nordics. Data from early testing have shown a 66% increase in user engagement. According to Tinder’s internal data, users who are interacting in Double Date threads are having deeper conversations. They send 25% more messages than via standard one-to-one conversations! On average, Double Date group chats experienced a 35% uptick in message volume. This shift was even more pronounced for users under 29 years old.

Almost 12% of users who accepted a Double Date invitation were new or returning users. This speaks to the platform’s cultural power and broad appeal to all demographics. Tinder aims to create a serious yet comfortable dating experience with this new feature, building upon previous concepts like Tinder Social.

“In early testing, users consistently told us they felt more comfortable to be their authentic selves when connecting as a pair with a friend, which often led to stronger engagement,” said Cleo Long, a spokesperson for Tinder.

According to a recent Tinder report, nearly half of singles actively seek support from friends while navigating the dating scene. Double Date looks to capitalize on this positive upswing. It will produce a positive reframing that allows people to consider the potential for interesting interactions with their friends.
