Tim Novikoff, a former Google product manager and longtime educator, started the company behind Super Teacher four years ago. This exciting startup addresses an important need within the education technology space. Novikoff went all-in on just serving elementary school students—an intentional choice because he wanted to reach his own kids. He quickly found there was a deep shortage of edtech solutions for this important, often vulnerable age group.
Research emphasizes tutoring as one of the most impactful tools for improving children’s education. Despite its positive track record, hardly any American children are tutored. An online survey released in early 2023 focused on the 200 biggest school districts in the country. It discovered that less than 10% of students are getting the assistance they require. First, exorbitant costs prevent families from accessing the services they need. With prices often in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month, these community families can’t afford them.
Super Teacher is about to flip that script by being the most accessible, affordable, and effective tutoring solution available.
