Substack Introduces Built-In Recording Studio for Creators

With a new built-in recording studio, Substack wants to improve the content creation experience for its users. This addition is particularly focused on the needs of desktop users. It enables creators to record immersive one-on-one videos or fast-paced dialogues with up to two guests. By making the creation of video as simple as possible, Substack wants to enable those same writers and creators to unlock new ways of telling their stories.

This recording studio is a new addition, made to accommodate the growing demand for professional-quality audio and video content. We’re thrilled to be bringing these new, tailored solutions to creators on the platform! Creators who published audio or video on Substack over the past 90 days experienced a remarkable 50% increase in revenue. Conversely, those who were not using these types of features at all lost out on this massive increase. This speaks to the need for improving audience engagement and revenue opportunities by creating multimedia assets.

Amanda Silberling is a senior writer at TechCrunch, where she covers the intersection of technology and culture. She received her B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Further, she served as a Princeton in Asia Fellow in Laos. Her experience and wisdom about what’s happening in the industry positions her as an important voice in conversations like the one taking place around Substack.

Suback called out the former barriers that creators have long experienced.

“Until now, creating video on Substack meant going live, or stitching together a separate stack of tools: a recording platform, a way to create and distribute clips, and something to design a thumbnail.” – Substack

With the built-in recording studio, we are looking to remove these obstacles and more by delivering a frictionless experience for creators. It empowers them to prioritize and create rich, valuable content without being overwhelmed or distracted by technical requirements.

The appetite for all sorts of different content just goes up and up. Substack’s new feature does a pretty great job of putting creators in control of how they monetize their work. The platform has always been about facilitating deep, meaningful relationships between authors and readers. With this new tool, Substack has a powerful way to build on those connections with audio-visual content that captures attention and inspires engagement.
