Sierra is thrilled to launch the second year of its APX program. This program is aimed at providing these recent technical graduates with meaningful, rewarding careers. This national initiative provides recent college graduates an opportunity to serve in a two-year rotational program. More importantly, they will gain hands-on experience, much like the incubator that helped kick start Taylor’s and Bavor’s careers two decades ago.
Bret Taylor He was at Salesforce for almost a decade following his time as Chief Technology Officer at Facebook. Prior to that he was at Google. He had previously founded Quip, which Salesforce acquired for $750 million in 2016. Clay Bavor, co-founder of Sierra and former head of Gmail and Google Drive, first encountered Taylor while both were at Google. Their partnership—formed during that strenuous experience—has since become integral to Sierra’s operational success.
The APX program is designed to grant participants what Taylor describes as “an irresponsible amount of responsibility.” New grads can expect to be on several product launches in their first year. This experience will make this an extremely energizing place to be, in terms of fast learning and professional development. This method not only gives participants a toolbox of valuable skills but fosters cutting-edge thought throughout the organization.
Sierra II takes great strides in its first 18 months since launch. It’s already landed hundreds of customers—including some household names such as SoFi, Ramp, and Brex. The company’s growth trajectory reflects its commitment to delivering value to clients while nurturing new talent within the tech industry.
The APX program would replicate the early career trajectories of Taylor and Bavor. They thrived at Google, due to those same conditions and opportunities. Sierra is committed to seeing this powerful model become successful everywhere. She seeks to spark the imaginations of a new generation of technical professionals by providing them with the experiences and resources to lead meaningful careers in technology.
