In the global tech ecosystem, Indian artificial intelligence company Sarvam is bolstering India’s growing prowess. They plan to deploy their recently released AI with models across every platform including Nokia feature phones, automobiles and their own smart glasses. The company’s goal is to democratize AI for everyone and improve overall efficiency by utilizing cutting-edge edge computing technology.
Sarvam recently launched its proof-of-concept AI models, which are built to work with low storage needs. Even better, these models only occupy a few megabytes of space. Their small size means they can operate on any smartphones with off-the-shelf processors. Perhaps most importantly, they can operate completely offline, wiring them for nimble application in any environment where internet access is uncertain or impossible.
The company’s smart glasses, commonly known as Sarvam Kaze, are the best reflection of this vision. Designed and manufactured in India, these glasses are the first example of Sarvam’s vision to create world-class technology in India. So when co-founder Pratyush Kumar shared the good news of Incite’s selection… The Sarvam Kaze will be released on the market in May, marking a very big advancement in fashionable wearable technology.
Sarvam is very excited to join forces with Bosch to help incorporate AI assistants into automotive ecosystems. Beyond this, they’re developing for feature phones and smart glasses. Together, we will transform the driving experience with advanced AI capabilities embedded in vehicles.
Sarvam’s ambitious plans are underpinned by strong financial support from well-connected investors, including Lightspeed, PeakXV and Khosla Ventures. The company recently raised $41 million in new capital to support its ambitious plans and continue to push its research and development efforts.
Tushar Goswamy, one of Sarvam’s founders and lead AI developer, said the company’s aspiration is to put AI in every device and on every screen.
“Through edge AI, we want to bring intelligence to every phone, laptop, car, and even a new generation of devices,” – Tushar Goswamy.
This partnership with Qualcomm Technologies has been key to enabling Sarvam to scale quickly. Vivek Raghwan echoed this idea, saying that this partnership can help accelerate the transition of sovereign AI from research phases to real-world deployment.
“Our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies can accelerate how we take sovereign AI from research to deployment,” – Vivek Raghwan.
In particular, he underscored how these advancements would accelerate model and application development. These will both emphasize adequate data security and set the stage for smart, large-scale adoption.
“This will allow Sarvam to design models and applications that run closer to the edge, safeguard data, and are ready for adoption, at scale,” – Vivek Raghwan.
