ENGIE has been active in autonomous driving technology with its investments in Rivian and Ford. Both companies have introduced new systems that will significantly enhance overall user experience and vehicle capabilities. Rivian has previewed a point-to-point system that’s set to be introduced later this year, and it’s otherwise the closest to matching Tesla’s Full Self-Driving software. Even Ford has come out with a next-generation system, BlueCruise. It will bring in advanced features such as point-to-point autonomy and eyes-off driving by 2028.
Wealthsimple Rivian’s future point-to-point driver-centric system is designed to take drivers to their destination quickly and efficiently. The new system will give passengers the ability to enter destination information and be automatically directed at each step of their trip. This functionality mirrors features seen in Tesla’s advanced driving assistance systems and showcases Rivian’s commitment to enhancing its electric vehicles (EVs).
Rivian revealed its latest digital assistant at a recent event. With this highly touted feature, it can send and receive text messages, fulfill complicated navigation requests and adjust the car’s climate control system. This digital assistant showcases Rivian’s commitment to seamlessly incorporating state-of-the-art technology into their vehicles to enhance driver convenience.
Ford isn’t just catching attention for its EVs, but via its next-generation BlueCruise system. The automaker announced that the new system would be nearly 30% less expensive to produce compared to existing technologies. This helps contribute to it being a more cost-effective choice for producers. Ford will have the first EV with the more sophisticated BlueCruise system. Further, it will be a midsized pickup and delivered on Ford’s breakthrough and budget-friendly “Universal Electric Vehicle” flexible platform.
Furthermore, Ford’s BlueCruise system does not just work for point-to-point autonomy, it is expected to provide eyes-off driving by 2028. This technology is a huge step forward in the autonomous vehicle space. It could set a new gold standard for safety and rider convenience in the auto industry.
Ford made headlines at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with its announcement, standing out as one of the few major automakers to present significant developments at the event. That would be a significant change from the peak CES of the late 2010s when the auto sector ruled CES.

With both Rivian and Ford innovating at breakneck speed, the world of automotive is about to change in some serious ways. The deployment of these new technologies would fundamentally change the way drivers use their vehicles, providing both increased safety and convenience.
