Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, announced the company’s grand new experiment. He unveiled Reliance Intelligence as part of the corporation’s 48th annual general meeting, held remotely. This subsidiary will make Reliance an undisputed leader in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. It will revolutionize services for consumers and capabilities for enterprises. Reliance Intelligence has joined with fellow technology titans Microsoft and Meta. Through these partnerships, Yatra aims to deliver advanced AI solutions and operations to enterprises in India and some targeted overseas markets.
Reliance Intelligence Reliability Intelligence will be an AI hub for R&D. Summarizing the significance of the initiative, Ambani said it would solve India’s problems before the world did:
“Reliance Intelligence will create a home for world-class researchers, engineers, designers, and product builders, combining the speed of research with the rigor of engineering.”
The company has done so much already to infuse AI across its current offerings. Reliance has already joined forces with Microsoft to use the latter’s Azure cloud platform. This unique association will enable Indian businesses on their digital transformation journey. This partnership represents a significant move towards improving the country’s cloud infrastructure and AI capacity.
Further, in July 2023, Reliance formed a joint venture with Meta to build and deploy enterprise AI products. This collaborative effort seeks to bring cutting-edge Llama models from Meta and put them to use in the real world. CEO Mark Zuckerberg underscored the significance of the collaboration when he said,
“Through this joint venture, we’re putting Meta’s Llama models into real-world use.”
Reliance’s AI plans come into sharper focus with the completion of a multimillion-dollar data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This facility will be a central foundation of its operations, enabling the real time data processing and storage requirements for multiple services.
The company has launched JioAICloud, a consumer-focused cloud service that doles out users 100GB of free storage. With 40 million users so far, this new platform has already made quite a splash. It has other cool features, including voice search support and an AI Create Hub. This new service includes significant new AI capabilities. It features “Riya,” an AI-powered voice assistant that increases user engagement and content is automatically translated into multiple Indian languages with AI voice cloning and state-of-the-art lip-syncing technology.
On the entertainment front too, Reliance is already a dominant player, and aims to bring AI to its streaming service JioHotstar. This move has proven to be incredibly popular on this platform, which is now home to more than 600 million users and 300 million paying subscribers. By harnessing the power of AI technology, JioHotstar will be able to create seamless experiences for users with more personalized content recommendations and accessibility features.
Reliance is committed to helping steer innovation in the right direction. As Sam Altman treks to India next week, it sounds like that company is very close to announcing a tempting pairing with Google Cloud. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google Cloud, noted the significance of this relationship, stating:
“As Reliance’s largest public cloud partner, Google Cloud is not only powering the company’s mission-critical workloads, but we are also innovating with you on advanced AI initiatives. This is only the beginning.”
With this move, Reliance Industries is sending a strong signal with the launch of Reliance Intelligence. This move increases their clout in the rapidly-evolving, Wild-West AI ecosystem. And to make this happen Reliance is teaming up with some of the top technology companies. They are further committed to providing cutting-edge infrastructure with which to provide groundbreaking solutions for both consumers and enterprises.
