Jay Neo, who joined the popular YouTube channel MrBeast at just 18 years old, focused on viewer retention during his tenure. After exiting MrBeast in early 2023, he joined forces with another former co-writer. Together, they debuted countless new outlets with the “Creaky” imprint. The partnership was a big success, surpassing a billion views a month on these channels! Neo’s experiences have inspired his dream for Palo. He’s convinced that AI has a role to play in providing creators with essential information about how their content is performing.
Shivam Kumar, serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Palo, adds that the application comprises three core components: an AI-driven ideation and planning tool, analytics features, and a community platform for creators. This creative, robust combination of tools and strategy will better address the many complex challenges that content creators face in today’s media landscape.
During its testing phase, Palo connected with around 40 creators who shared the collective potential of reaching over a million followers. The help we’ve gathered in this time has been crucial to polishing the tool.
“Creators everywhere are looking for tools that make their process smoother without taking away their voice,” said Rajan Anandan, an investor in Palo. Jay and the team had a good sense of where the real value was. This knowledge provided us the confidence to take bold leaps and sure conviction in our choices. AI is allowing us to build a brand-new category of identity-aware systems that can learn, deeply, from the world’s top creators.
Neo emphasizes that AI’s purpose should not be limited to data analytics but also boosting creativity. He makes a comparison between content creators and stand-up comedians who test out material on comedy club audiences to shape their act.
“Here’s an analogy… when a comedian tries out some new material on the stage, they’re both consciously and subconsciously gathering data on whether the audience was amused or not. Each performance becomes an iteration, and each new audience benefits from what the comedian learned from the show before. We believe AI can give creators a similar advantage,” – Jay Neo
Shivam Kumar explains that Palo utilizes a mix of models to create a “data tree” that extracts insights related to hooks, audience sentiment, trending topics, originality, and relevant search terms. Our inference engine takes in these base data points and applies multiple algorithms to structure this information in a meaningful way.
Kumar himself knows the pressures creators face. Having experienced burnout firsthand himself, he knew he needed to create a supportive tool for other creators, which drove his passion to develop one.
“I’ve experienced burnout as a creator myself, which is why I invested in Palo,” Kumar shared. “The challenge today is that to keep up with the latest viral hooks and strategies to beat the algorithm, you have to spend hours per day getting brain-rotted, consuming content, which I think rewires your brain to default to consumption instead of making something new. That can lead to procrastination, writer’s block, and burnout,” – Josh Constine
Palo raised $3.8 million in its latest funding round. The investment was led by Peak XV (formerly Sequoia India) Surge, along with NFX and a number of individual investors. This support will help Palo scale its platform and connect with more creators around the world.
