OpenAI will be bringing back its third annual developer conference, DevDay 2025, to Town and Country on Monday, October 6. In-person activities will take place in the beautiful Fort Mason campus in San Francisco. We’re looking forward to having more than 1,500 developers and tech enthusiasts join us! This year’s conference promises an engaging lineup of presentations, discussions, and interactive experiences focused on the future of artificial intelligence.
Our opening keynote will be Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, who takes the stage at 10 AM PT. Attendees should expect some thrilling announcements and live demos that highlight the ways developers are revolutionizing our world with AI. The keynote will run approximately one hour. In addition, it will be live-streamed on OpenAI’s YouTube page, allowing a much broader audience the opportunity to participate.
Following Altman’s keynote, OpenAI President Greg Brockman and Olivier Godement will present the “Developer State of the Union” at 3:15 PM PT. During this session you can expect a deep dive into the latest advancements in AI technology, plus OpenAI’s roadmap and vision for the future.
As the day winds down, Altman will return for a “Closing Fireside Chat” with renowned designer Jony Ive at 4:15 PM PT. In this online conversation, we will explore the “art of making in the era of AI. We’ll discuss how cutting-edge technology is impacting design and development processes, and more. The Twitter chat will last about 45 minutes.
During DevDay 2025, expect similar AI-powered fun and learning. One of these is “Sora Cinema,” a funky little independent mini-theater where you can buy popcorn. There, attendees will get to watch some of the short films produced by OpenAI’s video model, Sora. This one-of-a-kind experience marks another step by OpenAI to promote interesting and creative uses of its technology.
The conference will present an impressive slate of on-stage presentations with influential leaders from the tech industry. Cursor co-founder Aman Sanger, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, and Andreessen Horowitz Investing Partner Kimberly Tan will be among those sharing their insights. While the past few years haven’t been easy, OpenAI’s persistent work has led to a wealth of new innovations. In 2024, the company made headlines with a host of major improvements for developers, among them an API for AI voice applications. At its first ever DevDay in 2023, OpenAI unveiled GPT-4 Turbo. They released the GPT Store, setting a new standard for all subsequent innovations to follow.
Though we wait with great excitement for DevDay 2025, the game has already begun with speculation of what new technologies or updates will be unveiled during the event. Access to OpenAI OpenAI is currently working on a number of really cool projects. These range from an AI utility device, a social media app, and an AI-driven browser. To date, there have been no concrete announcements of what will be released at this year’s conference.
