Nvidia further revealed a massive expansion of its partnerships with South Korea to strengthen the country’s artificial intelligence (AI) resources. You’ll collaborate directly with some of South Korea’s biggest companies including Hyundai, Samsung, and Naver. Beyond that, you’ll be working hand-in-hand with the South Korean government. This joint initiative aims to accelerate design of any custom CPU/IP and XPUs by leveraging Samsung Foundry. That $5 billion initiative seeks to install a massive fleet of Nvidia GPUs to support multiple public programs.
The announcement marks a pivotal moment for Nvidia, which has experienced remarkable success, recently surpassing a $5 trillion market capitalization. The tech giant is looking to use its Omniverse platform in conjunction with greater than 50,000 GPUs. This smart combo will produce an unprecedented AI grid that supercharges AI infrastructure in public, private and nonprofit sectors.
This partnership is a further demonstration of their deep commitment to fostering innovation and technology in our region. The company will work to model AI foundation models produced locally here in South Korea. They will further champion the creation of a national AI data center, both key pillars of the country’s strategy for digital transformation.
Naver Cloud, one of the largest Korean cloud infrastructure service providers, has joined forces with Nvidia. Collectively, they’re developing the world’s first “Physical AI” platform. This cutting-edge platform is the perfect place where the physical and digital worlds collide. It gives AI systems the power to succeed in complex, real-world industrial landscapes such as semiconductor fabrication, shipbuilding, energy and biotech. To accelerate Korea’s AI adoption, Naver Cloud has been deploying AI infrastructure across the country’s key industries. This step will speed development and adoption of AI solutions tailored to everyday, practical uses.
Nvidia agreed to provide South Korea with more than 260,000 of its cutting-edge GPUs. This is an important step to address the rapidly increasing demand for AI technology. Such initiatives have been part of the South Korean government’s broader goals of ramping up South Korea’s AI talent and infrastructure.
These partnerships go further outside South Korea’s borders as Nvidia partners with a far-reaching list of international players. Notable partnerships include those with Eli Lilly, Palantir, Uber, and Joby Aviation, as well as the U.S. Department of Energy. These types of collaborations illustrate Nvidia’s mission to democratize generative AI capabilities across all sectors and industries.
As Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said, the AI revolution will be as transformative as electricity, affecting every aspect of society.
“AI is revolutionizing every facet of every industry, and in transportation alone — from vehicle design and manufacturing to robotics and autonomous driving — Nvidia’s AI and computing platforms are transforming how the world moves,” – Jensen Huang.
The importance of these changes is hard to overstate. Hae-jin Lee of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport remarked on this new dawning age of “Physical AI.”
“Just as the automotive industry is transitioning to SDVs, the era of ‘Physical AI,’ where AI operates directly within real industrial sites and systems, is unfolding,” – Hae-jin Lee.
