Microsoft Tests Copilot for Gaming in Xbox Mobile App

Microsoft today started testing its new Copilot for Gaming feature. Or you can pick it up directly in the Xbox app on iOS and Android devices. Taylor O’Malley, principal program manager at Xbox made this thrilling announcement. It focuses on improving the gaming experience by allowing users to discover and use useful features on a second screen without ever breaking their attention from what matters most — gaming.

The news was buried as the last paragraph — in a blog post published on the last weekday before Memorial Day 2025. O’Malley described how that new Copilot feature will look across mobile platforms. He talked about how it was able to provide useful information to players without infringing upon their gameplay experience. He stated, “In this early version of the feature for mobile, you’ll be able to access Copilot for Gaming on a second screen, without distracting you from your core gameplay experience.”

Copilot for Gaming will help players with questions about their gaming history and account. O’Malley provided examples of potential questions users might ask, such as “What was the last achievement I got in Starfield?” Such an interactive model might make for a smoother experience, keeping players immersed in the game while still having the information at their fingertips.

Aisha Malik, a consumer news reporter at TechCrunch, wrote about this emerging trend in her tech-oriented publication. Malik earned an interdisciplinary honours bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto. He also holds a master’s degree in journalism from Western University. Before TechCrunch, in which she joined in 2021, she served as a telecom reporter at MobileSyrup.

At TechCrunch, she continues her crusade to make the future accessible and exciting through emerging technology and gaming. Her incisive blogs point out the most important trends of the industry. Malik’s bio page on TechCrunch will give you a better sense of her background and expertise.

Microsoft is actually still beta testing Copilot on mobile devices. This testing is just a piece of their overall push to include next generation features into gaming subscription services. With each new generation and iteration of technology, developers will continue to innovate to create more ways to deliver on those player expectations.
