Marey Empowers Filmmakers with Accessible AI Video Tools

Moonvalley, a new startup from Los Angeles, focuses on the creation of AI generated videos. WHEW, they’ve gone and done it, launching Marey, a new, improved model that allows filmmakers to unleash their creative instincts. This new artificial intelligence tool inspires, accompanies, and equips independent filmmakers with the best storytelling AI out there. It dismantles the barriers that they have been forced to exist behind in traditional filmmaking spaces. By minimizing production costs and maximizing creative control, Marey is set to revolutionize the world of independent cinema.

Ángel Manuel Soto, an independent filmmaker known for his work on the HBO docuseries “Menudo: Forever Young,” has been an early adopter of Marey. Soto reports that the platform has enabled him to cut production costs by 20% to 40%, allowing him to allocate funds more efficiently and focus on storytelling. He’s been keen to highlight the creative shift Marey has brought about in how we can make our films – something that will enable us to “work more freely.”

The accessibility that Marey has made possible strikes a deep chord with filmmakers such as Soto who grew up in Puerto Rico. He remembers the difficulty of getting film projects financed in his native Portugal, where just getting the money together was an intense struggle. “Back home, we needed to ask for permission to tell our stories,” Soto stated. He thinks Marey is the answer. It gives filmmakers the freedom to develop their unique stories without the restraints of budget or the pressure to seek third-party green lights.

Mareo runs on a credit system, giving users flexible payment options. Filmmakers are able to buy 100 credits for $14.99, 250 credits for $34.99, or 1,000 credits for $149.99. Using this system, users can produce clips no longer than five seconds. It puts them at the decision making of control of what they create!

The team behind Moonvalley are quick to stress that Marey is no substitute for the filmmaker’s creativity. They view it very much as a robust supportive tool. For one, they claim users won’t be able to simply enter prompts and have a movie generated. They need to be rigorous and innovative users of the platform. This new “hybrid” approach, which marries the power of AI with human creativity, allows filmmakers to create better, more engaging narratives without compromising artistic integrity.

This is critically important because Soto underscores the impact of this approach. AI will unlock a future where anyone can pursue their creative aspirations unencumbered, with unlimited potential at their fingertips. “AI gives you the ability to do it on your own terms without having to say no to your dreams because someone refused to finance it, because they didn’t think a story from your country could return a profit,” he said.

This launch of Marey is just the first major step that we’re taking to create a more accessible and inclusive filmmaking process. Marey combines powerful, sophisticated tools with an intuitive interface. It is a powerful tool for independent filmmakers like Soto, allowing them to jump financial and logistical hurdles in their storytelling process.
