Luma AI, one of the most exciting new artificial intelligence forays out there, has dropped its latest innovation—Ray3 Modify. This new model allows users to blend real-world elements with expressive AI capabilities, giving creative teams unprecedented control over video editing and production. Debuting in November 2025, Ray3 Modify promises to bring a new level of efficiency and creativity to filmmakers and content creators alike.
As Luma AI begins to cement its place within the competitive landscape, Ray3 Modify has come in and seemingly dropped like a thunderbolt. It competes against heavyweights like Runway and even Kling. The new model builds on Luma AI’s first video editing achievements, unveiled in June 2025 for the first time. It’s unprecedented for creatives to be able to shoot performances with studio-quality imagery. They can completely recreate those environments by switching locations, replacing costumes, or they can even reshoot using AI technology with just a click of a button.
Amit Jain, co-founder and CEO of Luma AI, highlighted the cutting-edge nature of Ray3 Modify when it was announced. He stated,
“Generative video models are incredibly expressive but also hard to control. Today, we are excited to introduce Ray3 Modify that blends the real-world with the expressivity of AI while giving full control to creatives. This means creative teams can capture performances with a camera and then immediately modify them to be in any location imaginable, change costumes, or even go back and reshoot the scene with AI, without recreating the physical shoot.”
Jain, who is currently based in India, has extensive experience in the digital media landscape. He is a former contributor for major outlets such as the Huffington Post and The Next Web. In his tenure, Luma AI has raised an astounding $900 million. As with the last round, that one was led by Humain, an AI firm funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. This round was projected in November 2025. That feature comes straight from Luma’s vision for the future of AI in creative industries — and we couldn’t be more supportive of that idea.
Beyond its product breakthroughs, Luma AI is shaking things up on the infrastructure front as well. Among other projects, the company is working with Humain to build a 2GW AI-powered data factory in Saudi Arabia. This ambitious project will help develop Luma’s AI capabilities even further while fostering technology-led economic development in their Puerto Rican home.
