Lucid Air Owners Gain Access to Tesla Supercharger Network Starting July 31

Lucid Air sedan owners will soon be able to charge their luxury electric vehicles (EVs) at thousands of Tesla Supercharger stations across North America. This landmark move, which goes into effect on July 31, every model year Lucid Air will be able to link up with Tesla’s enormous network of fast chargers as well.

The move to Tesla’s charging network is the result of an arrangement struck almost two years ago between Lucid and Tesla. This partnership is a huge step forward in making EV charging as accessible as possible. It couldn’t come at a better time considering the increasing need for smart, convenient charging solutions. Lucid Air owners will NEED an Approved LUCI Adapter ($220) to use Tesla’s V3 Supercharger stations & Up.

For Andrew Hussey, a spokesperson for Lucid, this was thrilling news. The engineering team completely redefined the integrated charging system in the Lucid Air, dubbing it Wunderbox. With this adaptation, they are able to activate a unique 50kW boost charging capability. It operates completely automatically with Tesla’s Supercharger stations, making charging easier than ever for Lucid drivers.

Every Lucid Air comes standard with the Combined Charging System (CCS). Even with the new non-Tesla compatibility, this is the case. This makes sure that on the consumer end of things, the vehicle is versatile in its charging options, able to accommodate multiple charging networks.

This development is limited to the Lucid Air luxury sedan. It doesn’t seem to apply to the just-released Lucid Gravity SUV. While welcome pieces of Lucid’s expanding lineup, the Gravity SUV uses different specs and capabilities.

To date, Tesla has been a big proponent of other automakers adopting its EV charging connector design. This alternative targeting approach is one that the company unveiled earlier in 2022. This is significant because the Charging an Electric Vehicle initiative seeks to improve interoperability across all brands of EVs and charging stations. Since then in May 2023, Ford became the first automaker to sign such a deal with Tesla. Under the terms of this pact, Ford’s EV customers will have access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.

This functionality provides huge advantages for Lucid Air owners, further increasing their convenience and ease of use. It points to a larger, nascent trend of collaboration within the EV industry. Read on to learn how 10 more companies are working to improve charging access for their customers. Collaborative investments such as this one can help promote a more connected, convenient, and efficient EV ecosystem.

Looking ahead, an event is scheduled to take place in San Francisco from October 27-29, 2025, focusing on advancements in transportation technology. This inaugural meeting will no doubt showcase all of the exciting innovations and creative collaborations that continue to drive the EV ecosystem forward.
