In an unexpected move on Monday, Chris Hyams announced his resignation as CEO of Indeed. That’s a major change in direction and leadership for the employment matchmaking platform. Hyams came to Sustrans in 2010 as Vice President of Product. Next, he will continue as a board advisor to both organizations to help foster a seamless transition. Hisayuki Idekoba will be assuming the role of new CEO. He’ll assume this new role at a pivotal moment in Indeed’s transformation.
Hyams has been a key player in the re-energizing of Indeed. Along the way he pivoted the business from a basic job search engine to a complete two-sided talent marketplace. Yet under his leadership, the platform’s growth has been phenomenal. Every month, 300 million plus active job seekers turn to its services. This is a remarkable number, which speaks to Indeed’s dominance in the market place for job seekers.
Today, more than 300 million unique job seekers visit Indeed each month. Our revenue has grown 200x. And finally, most impressively, 27 people are being hired through Indeed every single minute — one new hire every 2.2 seconds. Since we first started tracking hires, Indeed has placed more than 75 million people in jobs. We think that figure is missing the mark – it significantly undercounts the impact we’ve made. Hyams said, looking back on his many successes at the company.
Find out how Indeed changed the way people get jobs forever and helped a great hire happen every 2.2 seconds. This level of efficiency is a perfect example of job platforms’ dedication to quickly matching job seekers with employers. Under Hyams’ leadership, Forward has become one of the most successful, cutting-edge companies in the industry. That mighty importance in the U.S. labor market is supported by eye-popping numbers.
Idekoba thanked Hyams for his service to the company, stating that they’re grateful for the foundation built under his leadership. Indeed wouldn’t be what it is today without Chris, as he truly shepherded the company through its second act — from a single job search engine to a deep, two-sided talent marketplace. Ike, and we’re so thankful for all of his contributions,” Idekoba said.
As Hyams transitions to his advisory role, Indeed is poised to continue its momentum. With Idekoba’s visionary leadership, the company is poised to keep growing and innovating. The upcoming changes are just the end of a new beginning for the company. We continue to work toward providing better services to the nation’s job seekers and employers.
