Greptile’s Ambitious Growth Plans Attract Benchmark for Series A Funding

Greptile is a revolutionary AI code reviewer, created by Daksh Gupta in early 2023. The ride-hailing company is still in talks with Silicon Valley tech investor Benchmark to make a Series A round at a $180 million valuation. The startup, which just graduated from Y Combinator’s winter 2024 cohort, wants to disrupt code review with the help of some AI magic.

Greptile first funded at the $4 million seed round led by Initialized Capital. Gupta, a Georgia Tech alumnus, calls Greptile’s bot a more sophisticated whack-a-mole. It feels at times like you’re working alongside a wizened old coworker, with a profound grasp of the customer’s code base. The AI-driven technology works proactively to catch bugs and other potential issues that human reviewers could overlook. Pair programming not only yields higher code quality but increases productivity 15-50%.

During a recent, wide-ranging discussion with reporters at TCEQ HQ, Gupta was strikingly honest about Greptile’s commitment to a demanding work ethic. He said he was sold on the idea that to win in this hyper competitive world of software, it takes extraordinary commitment from your team to succeed. No one gives a shit about the #3 company, or even #2 company in any category in software. He famously said that 95 percent effort is the same as 0 percent effort. Speaking of keystone, if you aren’t all in, don’t bother going home.

For all its lofty aims, Greptile’s workplace culture has made jaws drop. Gupta conceded in a November post on X that the company has “zero work-life balance.” Employees often have to be on call from 9 am to 11 pm, weekend hours are common. This high-pressure culture highlights the startup’s willingness to crush its competitors. In particular, Coderabbit just locked down a $16 million Series A led by CRV.

According to those familiar with the ongoing process, Benchmark is at the front of the discussions for the Series A funding. The deal has not yet closed, and terms can still be changed. Greptile is an incredible resource and its future looks bright! It aims to create an AI native code base expert that will sweep the market.

Mr. Daksh Gupta’s vision for Greptile fits perfectly with the growing need for more agile software solutions. Their TC Disrupt event is coming up – October 27-29, 2025 in San Francisco. Industry observers are closely following Greptile’s advance as it aggressively chases its own aggressive growth strategy.
