Gravitee Secures $60 Million to Enhance API Management Solutions

On Tuesday, tapping into that enthusiasm, Gravitee announced a $60 million round of funding. This powerful platform for managing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) has been making waves across the tech industry. In 2015, these five founders—including Rory Blundell, Azize Elamrani, David Brassely, Nicolas Géraud, and Titouan Compiegne—created Gravitee. Since then, the company has quickly emerged as an essential force in the emerging role of API management.

It’s important to note that the company offers free services as well as paid services. The revenue from the paid services is critical for building the future development of its open-source software. Today, Gravitee supports asynchronous and synchronous APIs, allowing enterprises to reach the largest set of customers possible. For the fiscal year 2024, Gravitee recently revealed a solid annual recurring revenue of $22 million. The company’s current goal, according to Ross, is to grow its customer base from roughly 130 to more than 200 by year’s end.

Gravitee’s growing adoption by enterprises further reflects this, with hundreds of customers running their business on Gravitee’s solutions. Their prestigious clients list boasts industry leaders like Blue Yonder, Michelin, Roche and Tide. These collaborations further demonstrate the platform’s power, built to support the increasing complexity and scale required with today’s API management requirements.

Rory Blundell, co-founder of Gravitee, reminded us all of how quickly technology evolves and the responsibility it puts on businesses.

“Companies are integrating AI agents, streaming data, APIs, and hybrid systems faster than ever.” – Rory Blundell

This swift integration brings significant challenges. In fact, as Blundell highlighted, many of today’s most innovative companies are facing extraordinary dangers. These risks include the security, observability, and control of their API and event infrastructure.

The need for enterprise-grade API management capabilities has never been deeper. By doubling down on the next generation of secure, efficient tools, Gravitee is putting itself in a strong position in the ever-competitive tech landscape. The company expects to dramatically increase their total number of customers from this year, expanding their reach. It’s time for AI to take center stage in determining how organizations approach the management of their sprawling digital ecosystems.
