Ganiga is a rising star in the waste management industry. They’ll be unveiling their cutting-edge waste-sorting technology to the world at the Startup Battlefield competition live on stage during TechCrunch Disrupt 2025. After a decade in development, in 2021, Nicolas Zeoli launched Ganiga. Since then, the company has rapidly scaled to develop a fleet of robotic waste bins, or Hoooly, that employ generative AI to distinguish trash from recyclable materials. This quake provides a rare golden opportunity for the company. Mostly, though, it lets us strut our stuff in the tech community and attract potential investors.
After deploying the first version of its prototype in 2022, Ganiga has found significant commercial success. Introduced to the world in 2024, the company’s smart bins took off almost immediately. They’ve done alright, having sold more than 120 units to such freedom-loving customers as Google and major airports across Europe. Airports in Bologna, Venice, and Madrid are just some of the locations reaping the rewards of Ganiga’s innovative smart waste solutions.
Zeoli expressed pride in the company’s accomplishments, stating, “Ganiga is the first startup in all the world to fill one airport with the smart bins.” This achievement is a testament to Ganiga’s vision of transforming the waste management industry with technology.
For all its current orientation towards the European market, Zeoli already has expansion into the U.S. in his sights. He announced a potential move of Ganiga’s corporate headquarters from Singapore to the US in 2026. This shift has been with the intention of realizing a bigger market opportunity and increasing the company’s growth upside.
In terms of financial progress, Ganiga has successfully raised $1.5 million in pre-seed funding from various investors, including clean tech venture capital firm NextSTEP and Next Energy Capital. The company is planning to close a $3 million seed round. This funding will accelerate its growth and continue to develop its product offering.
Ganiga’s revenue trajectory is a direct result of its expanding footprint in the thriving market it occupies. In 2024, the company had $500,000 in revenue. By the end of first quarters of 2025, its already jumped to $750,000. With this impressive growth, 32% in the last year alone, Ganiga’s product and services are clearly in high demand.
The company provides three primary products that address the complexities of waste removal to reduce unnecessary costs and ecological impacts. The company’s flagship product are the Hoooly bins, which use AI technology to automatically recognize and sort waste. Ganiga provides a very intelligent lid that can quickly be attached to your current, standard bins. This new innovation extends state-of-the-art sorting capabilities to existing waste management systems.
Looking forward, Ganiga will be rolling out its newest product, Hooolyfood, in November. This innovative software product uses camera images to accurately assess food waste, providing valuable data that can help organizations reduce waste more effectively. The learnings produced from their initial bins and software will further lead to other, future software-driven products.
