Healthcare technology leader Function Health was one of the few to beat the odds — they raised $298 million successfully. This great outcome series B funding round was led by Redpoint Ventures. This significant investment raises Function’s valuation to $2.5 billion, reflecting the company’s innovative approach to integrating lab testing, diagnostics, and clinical insights into a comprehensive health management platform. The funding comes as Function continues to set itself apart from competitors such as Superpower, Neko Health, and InsideTracker with its device-agnostic model.
Founded by Jonathan Swerdlin, who is also CEO, Function Health is on a mission to reinvent how people approach their health. The company has already exceeded 50 million lab tests since the start of this year. Function–an advanced AI-powered technology combined with medical expertise and a personalized touch—sets itself apart from other AI-driven fitness coaches and wellness apps.
Function’s leadership team includes Dr. Dan Sodickson, the chief medical scientist, and Dr. Mark Hyman, co-founder and chief medical officer. They help shape the creation of Function’s MI model, which is proprietary and unique. It’s doctors, who remain grounded in the practice of caring for patients, who refine this model.
State of the art Function currently runs 75 sites around the nation, using model tech. By the end of this year, the company expects to nearly double that number to about 200 locations. This expansion is a testament to the surging demand for personalized health management solutions that integrate advanced technology with clinical expertise.
Function is fully compliant with all HIPAA requirements, guaranteeing that user data is always protected. The company has full encryption of personal information across its platforms and further demonstrates its commitment to privacy by never selling user data.
“Your data and your identity are never for sale. Every bit of your information is fully encrypted and protected. We are committed to keeping you, and your data, safe.” – Jonathan Swerdlin
Swerdlin says the key will be using artificial intelligence to help manage that health. He states, “It is not good enough to be in a world where AI exists and not be applying it to your health.” His vision for Function Health is clear: “You should be able to manage your biology. The mission of Function Health is to bring the best technology available to human health.
