Figma Unveils New AI Features to Enhance Design and Prototyping Capabilities

Figma, a leading design company, has recently announced a suite of new features aimed at transforming how users create websites, web applications, and marketing assets. One of the biggest improvements, for example, is the new AI-powered site creation tools that make it easy to simplify the design process. Figma just released their Make Design feature. Unlike previous announcements that were praised by users, this one faced a major user revolt because it was so dependent on recent app UI designs.

Other notable additions in these updates include a drawing tool to create assets en masse, customizable to marketers’ needs. In order to enable designers to create more complex prototypes with high fidelity, Figma Make was launched. This new feature enables them to pilot their ideas faster and better than ever. Figma recently released a new and very cool plan—the content seat. For only $8 a month get Figma Buzz, Slides, FigJam and the Sites CMS plus so much more!

Yuki Yamashita, lead designer at Figma, spoke in-depth about Figma’s vision for these kinds of tools.

“We want to enable high-fidelity prototyping with Figma, especially with Figma Make. You can add more data to it and try to see how viable an idea is in terms of final implementation. Whereas Figma Site is useful for a marketing and design team when they exactly know how a site should look and take full control of that.” – Yuki Yamashita

Figma’s new capabilities position it alongside other website hosting providers like Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, and Hostinger, which have launched AI tools for easy website creation. This trend is indicative of a larger demand for intuitive, design-based solutions that can be implemented without extensive coding skills.

First and foremost, it is important to remember that Figma is by no means the first company in the high-fidelity prototyping space. Canva recently launched Canva Code, which gives users the ability to build interactive experiences right into their designs. On top of this, makerspaces, platforms like Replit and Lovable, and startups such as Aappd are pushing users to create apps and prototypes with no coding knowledge required.

Figma’s recent feature updates come after it had to retract its Make Design feature due to accusations that it was heavily trained on existing applications. This important, though subtle, move was intended to respond to user complaints about originality and creativity being stifled in the design process.

Figma, the collaborative design platform, is taking steps to increase collaboration between marketing and design teams. To do that, they are pioneering new tools that unleash creativity and imagination. The addition of the content seat plan further demonstrates Figma’s vision to provide affordable and accessible design resources to everyone.
