Eric Migicovsky Launches Affordable AI Smart Ring for Effortless Note-Taking

Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, has introduced his new favorite thing. The Index 01 smart ring makes jotting down notes more convenient than ever! At just $75, this pocket-sized device is slated to go up in price to $99 after March 2026. The Index 01 offers users the ability to record brief audio notes with just a press of a button, making it a practical tool for those who want to capture fleeting thoughts throughout the day.

The Index 01 also provides a superb overall recording time of about 12 to 14 hours. This new feature allows you to save audio clips of five minutes each! This new functionality is available in over 100 languages, which helps us serve a growing and ever more diverse audience. The ring keeps all recordings stored locally on the device. When you have a Bluetooth connection, it automatically syncs those recordings to your smartphone. This means users never have to worry about losing the ability to capture their ideas, even in circumstances where connectivity is scarce.

Migicovsky employs the Index 01 to record his musings. He captures these insights 10 to 20 times a day, sometimes recording 3 to 6-second epiphanies. He articulated the need for a consistent, one stop shop tool to quickly jot down ideas on the fly.

“The problem is that, during the day, I get ideas or I remember something, and if I don’t write it down that second, I forget it,” – Eric Migicovsky

The design of the Index 01 has made it clear that form and function can meld together beautifully. The ring is available in eight sizes, ranging from 6 to 13, and comes in three sleek finishes: silver, polished gold, and matte black. It’s water resistant enough to survive immersion up to one meter, making it particularly rugged for day to day use and care.

User-friendly and intuitive, Index 01 works seamlessly with iOS and Android smartphones. Its battery life is similarly incredible, lasting up to two years with normal use. This longevity contributes to the portability of the device for those who don’t like to regularly recharge their tech.

Migicovsky’s vision for the Index 01 goes beyond technology. He aims to address specific problems faced by individuals in their daily lives. He was very explicit about what he thought the product should be used for.

“I’m not trying to build some AI assistant thing. I build things that solve one main problem, and they solve it really well,” – Eric Migicovsky

Beyond its usability aesthetics, the project’s development coincides with Migicovsky’s larger, entrepreneurial philosophy. And of course, he continued to put a point on his desire to take private sector approaches to new places.

“And speaking as an ex-YC partner, there’s a time and a place for building a venture-backed startup. Some companies are phenomenal when they raise money and build a big team, and I tried that…What I’m doing now is trying an alternative path, which is [to] start from profitability,” – Eric Migicovsky

This new creative, conservation-focused avenue is a refreshing change from cultural norms around aspiring startups that can sometimes emphasize massive investment and fast growth. That’s because Migicovsky is all about building a product around what consumers need—right now. All the while, he’s committed to making sure his business model is sustainable.

The wearables Index 01 is a big step toward wearables with smarter productivity-enhancing capabilities. This collaborative product perfectly merges functionality with sleek design. It’s an attractive option for anyone who wants to easily jot down ideas, to-dos and notes on the go.
