This annual index ranks current model-year vehicles based on five key criteria: the location of final assembly, the percentage of U.S. and Canadian parts, the countries of origin for all engines and transmissions, and the U.S. manufacturing workforce. This year, Tesla vehicles won the top four, highlighting the company’s huge effect on stimulating American automotive production.
Ultimately, Cars.com ranked all 400 vehicles from the 2025 model year to find their best-of list. The analysis ran to a conclusion in finding 99 vehicles that met the definition for inclusion on the American-Made Index. Tesla’s new Model 3 is now the most “American-made” car sold in the United States. This accomplishment shines a spotlight on its domestic production within the country, as well the sourcing of domestic and/or componentry from within North America.
