Eazewell Emerges as a Revolutionary End-of-Life Planning Startup Co-Founded by NBA Stars

Eazewell, an innovative, end-of-life planning startup, wants to change the way people plan their digital afterlives. Co-founded by Donnell Beverly Jr. and NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook, the company aims to ease the administrative burdens faced by grieving families. The story of Eazewell Eazewell officially launched in early 2024, but after the deep loss Beverly Jr. experienced with his parents. Since introducing its platform earlier this year, Eazewell has already connected over 100,000 families to childcare.

The concept for Eazewell first came to fruition during a difficult time in Beverly Jr.’s life. After losing his own parents, Eric saw first hand the difficult decisions and unexpected challenges grieving families face. As Beverly Jr. described it, “We turned our familial hurt into a strong megaphone. We designed this platform not to profit, but to actually heal.” He envisioned a service that would take the hassle out of juggling multiple digital accounts. In our technology-infused world, this job is getting harder all the time.

Studies show that people today have 70 to 100 digital accounts that they actively use at once. Eazewell hopes to get ahead of that by offering what we believe is the best solution for handling digital legacies. Beverly Jr. emphasized the role of technology in this space, stating, “We’ve seen how AI has impacted our lives while we’re here, but you know now we’re entering a space where it’s impacting our lives after death.”

In early 2021, none other than nine-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook came on board as a co-founder. He’s a longtime friend of Beverly Jr. and uniquely committed to making a difference. Beverly Jr. heralded Russ’s commitment to changing the lives of the people in whatever industry he enters. This is just one example of Westbrook’s commitment to utilizing his growing influence to help bring about social good.

Westbrook sees his role with Eazewell as a chance to help him reach outside of sports. I try to open as many doors and build as much trust every time I put my name on something. Having gone through this whole period, I believe it’s extremely important to be in a leadership role, to be present, to be there. His relationship with Beverly Jr.’s family allowed him to experience the burdens of grief firsthand. This experience further inspired him to work on Eazewell.

>Former four-time NBA All-Star Kemba Walker has teamed up with Westbrook to make this a reality. His participation adds star power and credibility to Eazewell’s mission. The startup is committed to helping under-resourced and underserved communities, especially with the goal of ensuring all communities have equitable access to their services.

Eazewell’s growth has outpaced even big cities. It remains true to its grassroots roots and core mission – to help families understand and address the many issues involved with end-of-life planning. The platform goes beyond making administrative processes easier. It delivers the resources families need in their most challenging moments.
